    EP 22: Deborah and Barak, Unique Giftings United in Purpose (Judges 4 - 5)

    Central Thought: God can use both men and women to accomplish His purposes to destroy our spiritual enemy.   We need to recognize and discern giftedness and calling over gender.  We see a teamwork here in Deborah and Barak. Each knew what they were each called to do by God and they obeyed God. Deborah was called to discern the will of God for the nation of Israel, communicate that will, direct Barak in battle, and Barak was called to physically execute that will by going into battle to fight the enemy.  When we let God direct the roles and functions, we will see His miraculous work and not stifle in Spirit working in the body of Christ.

Trust that God’s word does not fail. His promises are sure. 3. Don’t give into the temptation to look for another saviour. Know that the Lord is enough. I want to stress how having a right understanding of the Gospel of Christ is the most important thing in life. It doesn’t matter who you are or where your from…how much education you have. The one common problem we all have as human beings is sin The gospel of Christ is the only solution to the sin problem of mankind.     📚Bible Study Notes on Joshua 6 Joshua 6 records how God brought down the impressive and well-fortified city of Jericho down after the Israelites led by Joshua faithfully marched around the city as God had commanded. In addition to this story displaying God's power in this miracle, it taught me three major lessons of being mindful of God even in the "mundane marching" before seeing a break-through.     EP 15 Consecration is Compulsory for Conquest (Joshua 5)

    📚Bible Study Notes on Joshua 5 Central thought: Consecrating our hearts daily prepares us to be usable by God to victoriously extend His Spiritual territory. Preparation of Our Hearts to Extend God’s Kingdom: Obedience and Consecration to the Lord v. 1-8 Joshua circumcised the Israelites at Gilbeath Haaraloth - This act of obedience is sandwiched between the miraculous crossing of the Jordan River and the Fall of Jericho. - A renewal of the covenant God made with Abraham. Those who were not yet circumcised were still technically outside the covenant. The important point here is that if you are outside the covenant, you cannot inherit the promises of God. - Like so, if our hearts are yet to be circumcised and placed in right standing with God, we also cannot enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ and enter Spiritual rest for our souls. Shame rolled away v. 9 “Then the LORD said to Joshua, “This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.” Therefore the name of the place is called Gilgal (means “rolling”) to this day.” shame has been rolled away Exciting time…they are now truly free to settle in the Promise Land, multiply, be fruitful and extend His Kingdom and bless the nations of the world. And through this group of people will come our Messiah Jesus Christ. Celebrating the Last Passover in the Wilderness: Remembering God’s rescue and provision. v. 10 - 12  The first passover was in Egypt (Exodus 12). 1st Passover in the wilderness at Sinai was 1 year after they left Egypt. God commanded Moses. Passover in the wilderness on the 14th day of the 1st month (Numbers 9:1-14) They had lamb but no grain, because of the nature of their journey. Signifies that their freedom has not yet been complete because they had not yet entered the Promise Land - a land of rest where they can settle, grow and farm wheat. So they still had to wait for God’s daily provision of manna.As there was now food from the land, God’s provision of manna changed. God will now provide in a different way and require something of His people. And now, the Israelites can work the on the land that God has given them to bear fruit. A picture of God equipping us with the tools and materials we need to provide for ourselves and our community.  As we grow in maturity, we have more responsibilities = same for spiritual growth /// Lessons I’ve Learned: 1. Remember God’s provision and goodness.   God’s provision can change but God never changes.  2. Leadership lesson: A heavy burden when leaders need to make an extremely unpopular decision. 3. Check the condition of our hearts before we accept an assignment from God.
