    DPI Ministries: Exposing Ash Wednesday, Lent, Easter, & Good Friday

    Read along during the Podcast with Maria's blog entitled: The Queen of Heaven: Why Does The Church Celebrate Easter? http://doubleportioninheritance.blogspot.com/2012/02/queen-of-heaven-why-does-church.html Ever since I was a child, I was erroneously taught by the Catholic nuns that our Messiah fasted in the wilderness during the forty days known as “Lent.” This season would commence on “Ash Wednesday,” and it would culminate on “Easter Sunday,” according to Catholic tradition. It was not until the year 2002 that I discovered these traditions of Ash Wednesday, Lent & Easter stemmed from ancient Babylonian religion, and were adopted into Christianity by Rome. Four years later, in 2006, I found myself stunned as I read Luke 4:19, where our Messiah declared “The Acceptable Year of YaHuWaH.” I understood in that moment that our Messiah, Yahuwshuwa fasted during the forty days of repentance or “Teshuva,” leading up to Yom Kippur. Even though Luke’s gospel does not tell us what time of year this was, there are enough clues in the language of Isaiah 61 to indicate Yom Kippur typology.     This week, we are going to take a departure from the usual Towrah Portions, and we are going to be discussing the biblical holiday known as "Puwriym" or "Purim." *Note: Some of you wonder why I spell it as "Puwriym." It is because the word is spelled with these Hebrew letters: "Pey, Waw (Modern Vav), Resh, Yod, Mem." These Hebrew Letters correlate to our English letters: P-W-R-Y-M = PuWRiYM.
