James, Alan and (occasionally) Deborah are film nerds just like you - if you're the kind of film nerd who likes to chat about all things film and get lost down an 80s rabbit hole. We talk about the new films we've been watching lately, classic films we haven't seen yet and overlooked hidden gems you need to see, ask remakes to justify their existence or be wiped from history and offer parole hearings to bad films that need to be remade to fix their flaws. Sometimes we also do a Spotlight episode on a filmmaker or subject we're interested in.

    73.3 The Remakes Tribunal 1976: King Kong, Won Ton Ton The Dog Who Saved Hollywood

    Continuing Issue 73 of Double Reel, the monthly magazine podcast for the discerning film nerd. This is the Remakes Tribunal and like the previous part of the issue we're focusing on films from 1976 that are having their 50th anniversary. For our Remake on Trial we ask if there was any reason to do an updated version of King Kong with Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange. For our Parole Board we ask if a remake would fix the many problems with the "comedy" Won Ton Ton The Dog Who Saved Hollywood.
