    215. The Doula Era Is Evolving, Expanding — And I’m Back

You may have been taught that the most important thing you bring into a birth room is your training. Your certifications. Your techniques. Your beautifully packed doula bag. And while those things matter… They’re not the deepest layer. The most important thing you bring into the birth room is your nervous system. A Shift Is Happening Over the past several years, the doula industry has moved through different phases. There was a strong focus on certifications and techniques. Then came the rise of digital doulaship—bringing education, support, and resources to families online. And now something deeper is emerging. The doula era is evolving. The work is expanding. Because no matter how much you prepare your clients—or how much you educate yourself—you can’t out-prepare a dysregulated nervous system. In This Episode, You’ll Hear About • Why the nervous system may be the most important thing you bring into a birth space • How the doula industry has evolved over the past several years • Why regulation changes the entire energy of the birth room • How inherited patterns can influence how you hold space for clients • The connection between nervous system work, burnout, and sustainability in birth work • Why healing through the mother line changes both your work and your life The Deeper Layer of Birth Work When you begin regulating your nervous system and healing the patterns held in your body—especially those inherited through generations of women—something shifts. Your presence in the birth room changes. The way you hold boundaries in your business changes. Your capacity to hold space for clients changes. Even your relationship with power, money, and leadership can begin to shift. This isn’t just about birth. It’s about how you live and lead as a woman. Why I’m Back I’m stepping back into the doula world because the conversation is evolving. And the next era of birth work isn’t just about techniques or certifications. It’s about regulated nervous systems. It’s about healing what we carry in our bodies and in our lineage. It’s about becoming fully expressed versions of ourselves rather than living a modern-day version of our grandmothers’ survival. If This Work Is Calling You The Mother Line program is where we go deeper into this work together. Inside this experience, you’ll explore healing inherited patterns through mother line work and Expansion Principle energy healing. The next cohort begins March 23 and includes: • a six-week virtual container • an intimate in-person retreat option in November • limited private support opportunities If you feel called to explore this deeper layer of healing and leadership, you can apply here: https://www.nicholejoy.com/mother-line

    214. Reclaiming the Power of Your Mother Line | Healing the Patterns You Inherited

What if the way you react to life… didn’t start with you? If you’ve ever noticed yourself responding to your children, your relationships, or situations in life in ways that don’t fully match the woman you know you want to be, there may be deeper patterns at play. Not everything you carry started with you. In this episode, you’ll explore the concept of your mother line—the generations of women who came before you and the energetic, emotional, and nervous system patterns that move through that lineage. Nichole explains your “spiritual soup,” the information you inherit from your life experiences, your soul’s journey, and your lineage. But you don’t only inherit trauma. You also inherit resilience, survival wisdom, and power from the women who came before you. In this episode, you’ll Learn the three phases of mother line healing: Awareness - Recognizing that some of the patterns you carry did not originate with you. Healing - Shifting inherited information at the origin. Embodiment - Living differently as those patterns begin to change. Nichole also shares how Expansion Principle energy healing works and why healing inherited patterns doesn’t require reliving trauma or knowing every detail of what occurred in previous generations. Through personal stories—including her own birth experiences and motherhood journey—Nichole explains how lineage healing has changed the way she parents, leads, and moves through the world. This work isn’t about becoming perfect. It’s about becoming different. Why This Work Matters When you shift patterns in your lineage, the ripple effect moves forward—into your children, your relationships, and the generations that come after you. If you’re listening to this and recognizing yourself in these patterns, you may be ready to begin this work in a deeper way. The Mother Line program is where we do that together. This experience includes a virtual container and an optional intimate in-person retreat (November ‘5-6, 2026) where we focus on healing inherited patterns through mother line work and Expansion Principle energy healing. Participants in the virtual experience also receive early access to Nichole’s upcoming memoir: Walking Mom Home. This work changes how you live as a woman—and what your children inherit from you. 213. How Motherhood Impacts Your Teeth: A Holistic Conversation with Dr. Yu, Periodontist

In this episode, Nichole sits down with Dr. Robert Yu, a holistic-minded periodontist based in St. Petersburg, Florida, to explore how pregnancy, postpartum, and the seasons of motherhood can impact your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. Dr. Yu was the surgeon behind Nichole’s year-long dental healing journey — removing old root canals, clearing infections, rebuilding bone with grafts and a sinus lift, and placing a ceramic dental implant. Together, they dive into the often-overlooked connection between motherhood, hormones, nutrient depletion, bone health, and gum disease — and what every woman should know about supporting her mouth and body through each stage of life. This conversation bridges holistic dentistry and conventional periodontal care, offering education, empowerment, and real-life insight for women who want to approach dental health from a whole-body perspective. What You’ll Learn in This Episode How pregnancy and postpartum nutrient depletion affect bone and gum health The link between periodontal disease and pregnancy outcomes like preterm or low-birth-weight babies Why many OB-GYNs and midwives don’t emphasize gum exams — and why they should The difference between traditional titanium implants and metal-free ceramic (zirconia) implants The mouth–body connection: how oral bacteria can influence heart health, inflammation, and systemic disease Dr. Yu’s preferred vitamin and mineral support for jawbone healing (vitamin D, calcium, potassium, and Metagenics Bone Builder Why informed consent matters in dentistry — and how to advocate for yourself as a patient The truth about bone graft materials (human, animal, and synthetic) and how to make an informed choice Dr. Yu’s thoughts on light therapy, microcirculation, and energy-based healing for post-surgical recovery The power of collaboration between dentists, functional medicine doctors, and holistic providers Pregnancy and breastfeeding can deplete minerals and weaken bone structure, including the jawbone. Healthy gums support a healthy pregnancy — untreated gum disease has been linked to preterm birth. A gum exam (periodontal exam) is just as important as a dental cleaning for expecting or new moms. Bone and gum health are influenced by vitamin D, calcium, and hormonal shifts. Holistic dentistry bridges prevention and science, empowering women to make choices that align with both intuition and evidence.

    211. Mother’s Day Is Complicated—Let’s Talk About It

Mother’s Day is a complicated one for me—and I know I’m not alone. In this episode, I open up about my relationship with Mother’s Day, especially after losing my mom just over a year ago. This isn’t a conversation about flowers and brunch plans (though I’m not knocking either). This is a deeper reflection on grief, forgiveness, healing, and the legacy we carry—and sometimes rewrite—as daughters and mothers. For most of my life, I had a complicated relationship with my mom. It wasn’t something I talked about publicly while she was alive, but now, as I work on the book about our story, I feel called to share more—especially for those of you who also didn’t grow up with the Hallmark version of a mother-daughter relationship. In this episode, I share: Why Mother’s Day can feel like grief, even if your mom is still alive What helped me begin to forgive my mom—and why it didn’t require a conversation The full-circle moment at our final Mother’s Day together Why I chose to write a book instead of telling our story on social media A powerful reframe around forgiveness, boundaries, and self-honoring What to do when you feel like “celebrating” just doesn’t feel aligned Whether you’re missing your mom, navigating a strained relationship, or just feeling the heaviness this day can bring—I hope this episode meets you with compassion and validation. And as a gift, I’ve added a link to access a guided healing meditation —a gentle energy transmission through the mother line. You can revisit it anytime. It’s not a one-time fix, but it’s a sacred step. 🌸 Listen in and remember: You can honor Mother’s Day in your own way. You can feel grief and gratitude in the same breath. You can hold the full complexity of love, disappointment, and healing—and still choose softness. If this resonates, I’d love if you shared the episode with someone who needs it. 210. Channeling: My Experience with Dr. Alexis Romeu and Simon

I’m so excited to bring you this conversation with my dear friend and mentor, Dr. Alexis Romeu. We’ve been connected since 2017, and if you’ve been around here for a while, you already know she’s no stranger to the podcast. But if this is your first time meeting her, let me properly introduce you to someone who has truly changed my life. Dr. Alexis is a doctor of Chinese medicine turned metaphysical teacher, channel for a trans dimensional being named Simon, founder of the Expansion Principle energy healing technology (which I’m now a practitioner of), and author of two incredible books. Go off friend! In this episode, we dive deep into what channeling actually is (spoiler: it’s not just “I had a great idea!”). We unpack the difference between readings, psychic abilities, mediumship, and true trans-channeling—where consciousness outside of you speaks through you. Alexis shares her journey of connecting with Simon, how Expansion Principle came to be, and the importance of energetic discernment (because no, you don’t just let any ol’ being borrow your vessel). We also talk about: How channeling is different from psychic readings (and why not all "messages" are created equal) Why the guidance from Simon has been a game-changer for me—especially during the hardest seasons of my life How Expansion Principle has opened up my intuitive abilities (even though I didn’t come from a traditional healing background) The beauty of zooming out to see life from a higher perspective, especially when humaning feels like… a lot What to expect if you’re joining us for an in-person channeling experience (yes, Alexis is coming to Tampa!) If you’ve ever been curious about channeling, energy healing, or how to navigate life with a little more cosmic support, this conversation is for you. Plus, we share some personal stories—including how Simon casually dropped details about my book cover (that I never told Alexis) and why fairies made a surprise appearance. ✨ Tampa friends—don’t forget, Alexis will be here on May 1st for two special events: 1️⃣ A live channeling experience with Simon 2️⃣ A Meet the Author event for her newest book The Art of Sacred Relating I’ll drop the links below so you can grab your spot. And if you’re not local, don’t worry—there are plenty of virtual ways to connect with Alexis and Simon too. Trust me, once you experience it, you’ll get why I’ve been showing up twice a month (plus private sessions) for years now. 208. Want to create your legacy? Here’s how I’m doing it…

In this episode, I’m diving into something that’s been on my heart for a while now: legacy. You know, the kind of stuff that makes you stop and think about what really matters in life. Losing my mom earlier this year, and my brother years ago, has completely reframed how I view life, work, and what we leave behind. Again. Today, I’m talking about how we can create a legacy that feels authentic, meaningful, and (surprise!) doable. Especially for us entrepreneurs—what happens when we shift from chasing revenue goals to creating something that lasts longer than an Instagram story? Here’s What I Cover in This Episode: What Legacy Means to Me (and Maybe You, Too): I break down how the traditional definition of legacy doesn’t quite cut it anymore—and why I think we’re living in a time where legacy can be so much more. Why Loss Has Shaped My View of Legacy: Personal stories about losing my mom, my brother, and how those experiences have guided me to focus on leaving an impact—both for my family and the world. Legacy Through an Entrepreneurial Lens: What if your business wasn’t just about making money? I share how shifting my perspective has helped me realign my work with my deeper values. Legacy-Building Tools of 2025: I geek out on my favorite ways to leave your mark: Writing a book (the highs and lows of this massive mountain to climb). Podcasting (spoiler alert: it’s more than a marketing tool). Social media (yes, if you save and archive your content thoughtfully). Digital courses (they’re not just for revenue—they’re timeless capsules of your wisdom). It’s Personal, Not Perfect: I share why your legacy doesn’t have to be a bestseller or a viral hit. It just has to be you. And it doesn’t all have to be public—your legacy can include things meant only for your family or even just yourself. What I Hope You Get From This Episode: A fresh perspective on why your life’s work matters. Inspiration to create something meaningful without getting caught up in perfectionism. Practical ways to start thinking about (and building!) your legacy today, even if you’ve never considered it before. Don’t Forget: If you loved this episode, I invite you to share it with someone who could use a little inspiration today. Let’s chat! What does legacy mean to you? DM me your thoughts on Instagram or email me—I’d love to hear your take. As always, thanks for being here with me on this journey. You being part of my world? That’s part of my legacy. — Nichole
