After a short hiatus to make some changes in our venue....Dr. Mara is back with her first LIVE program in two months. And she's getting ready for a summer packed with new and returning guests, interviewed from a new undisclosed location!

Join us this Sunday, when Stephen Hobbs, founder of WELLthMovement.com, joins us from Alberta, Canada to discuss living a legacy life.  Stephen guides Olders to Elders who are solo-aging to become mentors on the path to live their extraordinary legacy life.

 

And Dr. Mara will talk a bit about supporting family caregivers and healthcare advocates in the context of an ageist healthcare system.

We'll be joined from Florida by vegan chef and author of the new vegan cookbook, Oh So Yum!  Inspiring Others to Explore the Many Flavors of Plant-Based Nutrition with Everyday Favorites and Weekend Fun Food, Lori Gibson.  Lori will talk about eating a plant-based diet for nutrition and enjoyment...and some cooking tips!

Producer Art Mendoza will talk about his whirlwind trip to Bay Of Banderas from Vallarta, Bucerias, La Cruz, Punta Mita and San Pancho

We are joined from Toronto by Christiana Egi, RN, geriatric and mental health specialist, author, and owner/operator of Alexis Lodges, providing person-center care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.  

Christiana will talk about Dementia and her children's books, including her book, A Rose for Grandma, explaining to children why their grandparent might be acting differently.

And Dr. Mara with more from out in the field about advocating for loved ones in long-term care, while living a passionate life.  

Author and human rights/LGBTQ+ advocate, Michael Caputo returns to the show from NYC.  In July 2020, he joined us to discuss his autobiography, Dear Pat Cooper, about his journey with a loving family and an absent father.  

This time, he's back to discuss his second book, Chameleon: A Memoir.  In this memoir, Michael shows us another side of  himself, in which he vividly describes his harrowing journey coming out of the closet and living authentically, post-Stonewall, pre-HIV/AIDS epidemic, and thereafter.  Michael writes, "I went from being an innocent altar boy to an older gay man caught up in the middle of the John Travolta sex scandal that put me on the front page of the Daily News and written up in People magazine and the National Enquirer....Once I let go of all that guilt that I grew up with and embraced my true self instead of hiding it, I started to live and enjoy my life."

Iowa Long-Term Care Ombudsman and former Iowa Congressional Candidate, Kim Weaver-Fritzche, returns to the show!  This time, Kim will discuss the importance of advocating for our elderly loved-ones in Long-Term Care.

Marie-Therese Connolly will join us from Washington, D.C., for a discussion on Ageism in the healthcare system,  elder justice, and her new book, The Measure of Our Age. MT is a leading national expert on elder justice who was awarded a MacArthur "genius" grant for her work that has shaped policy, research, and practice for decades. She was the architect of the federal Elder Justice Act, founding head of DOJ’s Elder Justice Initiative (that helped to shape the 2015 White House Conference on Aging, National Center on Elder Abuse priorities), lead author of the Elder Justice Roadmap, and co-designer of the new community-based RISE model, a new holistic advocacy-based, harm reduction program for older people.
