    Celebrity Content Creator. Jamie Milne of ‘Everything Delish’

    Remember Tik Tok pasta, that baked feta dish we all started making during the pandemic? We have Jamie Milne–aka the Jewish internet food celebrity “Everything Delish”–to thank for that viral recipe. Five years and five million followers later, the Toronto native, 33, has published her first cookbook, Everything Delish, featuring a riff on her Bubbe’s classic roast chicken on the cover. But unlike other social media influencers, Jamie’s not just garnering clicks and likes: she’s implicitly changing the way people think about Jewish food. For example, when Jamie started sharing family recipes for Passover, like her Matzah Crunch, her non-Jewish followers responded by buying the unleavened bread for the first time, telling her how much they loved the toffee dessert. Everything Delish, her first cookbook, comes out September 1st and features recipes like Jaime’s Breakfast Crunch Wrap, Creamy Miso and Shallot Pasta with Crispy Mushrooms, ​​and anti-inflammatory recipes inspired by Jamie’s experience with endometriosis.     In this episode, we have the pathbreaking author Joan Nathan, who has published over 12 cookbooks, including her latest memoir, My Life in Recipes, and earned many awards for her work. Joan pioneered the study of Jewish cuisine by adopting an anthropological approach, treating recipe development as an opportunity to explore the history and culture of a diasporic people. Her cookbooks became bestsellers in the United States when the iconic editor Judith Jones asked Joan to write about “how Jews have changed food in America and how America has changed Jewish food.” Here, Joan shares several stories with Lara from her early career researching the foodways of logging camps or what it was like to have Julia Child as a guest on her PBS cooking show—they actually went kosher food shopping together on camera.
