Essential Listening
As a first time gun dog owner I scoured every resource and network I had in order to find an authority on dog handling and dog training. It was also incredibly important that I find a resource that spoke to me, had a holistic approach, and ultimately was inspiring.
I found this, and more, in spades at River Stone.
What’s more is how invaluable and complimentary Josh’s Pod Cast has been to my own experience at his Kennel.
As with anything in life, mental approach and attitude often outweighs any specific skill set or expertise in the unlitimate success of an endeavor.
Josh does an impeccable job ideating the various approaches that can lead not only to success but more importantly fulfillment.
There are no degrees, no certifications that are prerequisites to become a “trainer.” As such, navigating the overnight instagram trainers and the miriad of resources was intimidating.
We invest so much into our dogs, I didn’t want to mess it up.
I am so grateful for River Stone, and Duk Dogs.
Listen to this, you will not be disappointed!
Episode 117
Josh I am glad you talked about your dove hunt and Tuckers “struggles”. I seen the same struggles with my dog just this last weekend, first weekend out this year. Sure the birds he could see he crushed but the ones that were flat or is just in higher grass was hard to find. And truthfully if I had a dog that I had sent to a trainer that was “finished” I would expect that dog to crush every retrieve tall grass or not. Our Egos do get in the way a majority of the time. You are spot on with you mechanic reference if you took a truck to the shop and it broke down on the next trip you wouldn’t think very highly of that mechanic.
I enjoy every episode. Thanks for taking the time to provide all this content. I has made me a better person, parent and leader.
Motivation Monday
I have listened to 102 episodes from start to finish, and closing in on being caught up. There’s nothing like DUK Dogs to get the motivation in for long drives, workouts, and tractor rides while wishing to be working with the pup! Absolutely wonderful show!! 💪🏼
