Love narrative play DND podcasts. Listened to episode zero and part of episode one. So first off, they’re clearly Rude Tales of Magic fans with the DM imitating Branson Reese. No biggie, every newbie copies their favorites until they find their own voice, it’s part of the creative growth process. But I found myself zoning out so hard through episode one that I was losing the plot. Maybe it becomes funny later, because they’re clearly trying to be funny, but they’re not enough there to hold my interest. Last, I figured I’d give the first three episodes a fair chance, but by the third right wing political joke between episodes zero and one, I was out. Pro tip for DND podcasts - it’s not a platform for your personal stances and beliefs. People listen to these to have fun and escape. They don’t care how you feel about Biden or liberals or other stuff going on in the real world. They want dice and stories. You want to talk politics or joke about the opposing party, start a separate podcast. Focus on your target audience and story, and be really mindful how much of your audience you can alienate this way. Most creatives are not going to agree with your ideologies, and you’re sabotaging your own potential fan base. It makes sense from a business standpoint if nothing else.
