In this week's episode, Peter and Sue discuss Disney Vacation Club’s adoption of a new commercial use policy and price increase for one-time use points. In episode 179 of the DVC Newscast, Peter and Sue discuss Disney Vacation Club’s March 31 adoption of a new commercial use policy, outlining criteria DVC may use to flag frequent renting/advertising and the enforcement tools available (e.g., cancelling reservations, limiting booking/modifications, restricting banking/borrowing, and reducing benefits) while emphasizing casual renting and family reservations should still be allowed and hoping enforcement improves availability at hard-to-book resorts. They note Disney raised one-time use points from $20 to $22.50 on March 23 (up to 24 points per contract, usable at 7 months or less). They cover DVC member offerings at Disney California Adventure (free photo sessions April 14–Aug 6, 2026; Wine Social Wednesdays in April ), upcoming refurbishments (BoardWalk’s Luna Park Pool Jan–Apr 2027; Grand Floridian Cafe mid-July–Oct), an after-2 PM ticket option for May 26–July 29.. 00:00 Welcome and Weather Chat 01:11 Sponsor Monera Financial 02:04 New Commercial Use Policy 03:14 What Counts as Violations 06:46 Enforcement and Penalties 08:52 Why Members Want Crackdown 11:48 Rentals Still Allowed 14:32 Who This Targets 15:40 Market Impact and Enforcement 16:21 Using Points for Others 17:30 Rental Crackdown Talk Source: DVC News 18:10 One Time Points Price 19:03 Borrowing vs Buying 21:06 Member Magic Beyond Source: DVC News 21:35 DCA Member Events Free photo session Wine Social Wednesdays 24:18 Upcoming resort refurbishments Boardwalk Luna Park Pool Source: DVC News Grand Floridian Cafe Source: DVC News 25:50 After 2PM Tickets Source: Walt Disney World website 29:30 Moon...
