    Dwayna's Testimony Part 2

Thank you for tuning in to hear the rest of my testimony, which is more about the sexual abuse I have overcome as a child soloist with an evangelist...and then to how I overcame an emotional eating disorder that followed that, even though my weight only fluctuated ten pounds. It was enough for me seek out some accountability to change and understand "why" to find that God wants to heal the why. I got a health coaching certification in 2016 to help people lose weight for free, as part of my nonprofit org. I helped three women lose 100 pounds each and one man lose 80, all for free with a requested donation of any amount to raise money for my nonprofit organization to help more children in need. Food addiction is, indeed, an addiction much like drugs and alcohol, and I helped others by sharing with them what works for me. Although the 12 step meetings I attended in my twenties were not for me to stay in the rest of my life, I realize they have helped a lot of people. I wanted to add that as a caveat, because I said in Part 2 that it can be like a cult. Well, so can any organization, including some churches. The 12 steps are spiritual but not Christian...But, talking to other addicts living in recovery taught me a lot about addiction and how the main thing in breaking any addiction (including food addition) is the need to learn to feel and stay away from triggers and keep "smart feet" in an honest life, far away from self-pity. Go to my health coaching site at http://www.dwaynalitzhealthcoach.com to read testimonials and updates about how I continue to take care of myself as a top priority to be all I can be. I am thankful that I stay very full each day of life and satisfied, as I live a life true to myself. I am thankful for three counselors who have meant a lot to my life in cognitive counseling: Dr. Sherie Zander (with whom I began working when I began my nonprofit in 2003 in CA and still stay in touch with her today with her now living in Nashville), Marilyn Brown (who has since passed away) and Dr. Charles Browning, who founded the Foundation for Applied Biblical Counseling in Anaheim, CA. By taking their advice and taking my heart to "my wonderful Counselor" who loves and understands me most of all down on my knees, I continue to live my life as an overcomer. I mean it when I say I am thankful for every season of my life--all the joys and all the heartaches--as it has given me a deeper scope of understanding as I help others through the work of my Christian nonprofit, LightingTheWayWorldwide.org , made me a better songwriter and singer, and has all made me who I am today, Dwayna
