    Stop Calling A Tiger Fluffy

Send us Fan Mail A lot of people say they’re “animal lovers,” but love gets real when a pet stops being cute and starts needing structure, money, time, and a long-term plan. We go down the rabbit hole of dysfunctional pet ownership, from ordinary homes with dogs and cats to the risky world of exotic pets, and we ask the question that matters most: is this choice good for the animal or just exciting for the owner? We also talk about exotic pet ownership, a tiger isn’t “Fluffy” just because you named it that the fact is why “I love it” isn’t a care plan for wild animals. If this conversation hits home, subscribe, share it with a fellow pet person, and leave a review, then tell us: what pet trend makes you cringe? #dogs #cats #birds #exotics #petownership #resonsiblepetownership #lions #tigers #chimps #joeexotic #animalhoarding #potbellypigs #howmuchistomuch #ilovemydog #ilovemypet #goats Support the show Thank you for listening.  Be sure to check out our Facebook and Instagram pages for additional content. What Childhood Songs Really Meant: Who the Heck is Miss Suzie?

Send us Fan Mail Why do we remember Miss Susie Has A Steamboat forever, but not what we ate yesterday? We dig into classic folklore like Ring Around the Rosy and the plague theory behind its lyrics, plus the way other staples get linked to real events and power struggles. From Three Blind Mice and its grim imagery to Mary Mary Quite Contrary and the Bloody Mary rumors. Then we shift to the schoolyard material that trained a whole generation on innuendo and social rules: Miss Susie Has a Steamboat, clapping games, jump rope chants, and camp songs that were “naughty” without technically saying anything. We also laugh about counting-out rhymes like eenie meenie minie mo and bubblegum bubblegum in a dish, and what it felt like to be picked for teams when popularity and survival were on the line.  #dysfunctionjunkiespodcast #nurseryrhymes #misssuzie #redrover #threeblindmice #dodgeball #bubbleguminadish #ringaroundtherosey #schoolyardgames #clappinggames Support the show Thank you for listening.  Be sure to check out our Facebook and Instagram pages for additional content.
