Work to Do. Our discussion with Erin Berisini on Diversity in Triathlon

Welcome to Ear Splitz. In this episode, we chat with Erin Berisini and talk about diversity and inclusion in the sport of Triathlon. Erin has an incredible resume and has been the Editor in Chief for Triathlete Magazine, the Editorial Director at Pocket Outdoor Media and has written for Outside Magazine. In addition, she's an Ultra-Runner, an Ironman and has completed an Ultraman race.

Most importantly, she's a mom and one of the most thoughtful and generous individuals you'll ever meet. But don't let any of that fool you. She also speaks her mind and isn't afraid of pointing out areas where the sport of triathlon can improve.

We also get a coaching tip from Jess Smith from Hard Coeur Coaching and wrap up with a joke from Coeur Ambassador Lectie Altman.

    Planning (featuring Roderick Sewell)

    Planning (featuring Roderick Sewell)

The theme this episode is planning. Roderick Sewell was born without the use of his legs and after a double amputation above the knee, he and his mother could have never imagined plans could be made to one day race in Kona. They struggled together. His mother gave up her work and they moved in to a shelter so that Roderick could have prosthetics (something isn't right with that scenario!)

In the end, Roderick took all he learned from his mother, his perseverance, and his competitive spirit, to become, in 2019, the first double, above the knee amputee to finish Kona. The first. Amazing!

We also plan for the season with Coach Jess Smith of Hard Coeur Coaching. Lilias and David speak with Lisa Spencer about planning meals for the week. And Kebby tells us about the new Sound Check and Tiger Lily kit designs. Lilias makes plans to spend some $$$. :)

Love Coeur & Love Ear Splitz

I’m so thankful for more focus on female athletes and women specific information, education and entertainment. I’m tired of fast forwarding through men, talking to men, about men and trying to find a tiny nugget that might apply to my Tri life. THIS solves it all! I can’t wait for more episodes!!!

Awesome New Podcast

I am so excited about this new podcast from Coeur Sports. This is a company that celebrates all triathletes, not just those who land on the podium, and their podcast offers tips and tricks for triathletes at all levels. I can't wait to see what interviews they land next!
