The Demonologists: The Making of Ed & Lorraine Warren

The Demonologists: The Making of Ed & Lorraine Warren ⚠️ Content Warning: This episode contains discussions of demonic belief systems, exorcism, and paranormal phenomena. Listener discretion is advised. Before the famous cases. Before the books and the movies. Before Annabelle and Amityville became household names. There was a boy in Connecticut who saw a ghost no one believed him about. And a girl who could see things she was told were a sin. In this episode Bubah and Z go back to the beginning — the origin story of Ed and Lorraine Warren. Not the legend, not the controversy, not the Hollywood version. The two people. Where they came from, what shaped them, and how a free movie ticket in a 1940s theater became the foundation of a partnership that would last over sixty years and define the modern paranormal investigation genre. Ed Warren, the son of a state trooper who saw his first apparition at five years old and spent a lifetime chasing proof. Lorraine Warren, born with a gift so powerful it terrified the nuns who tried to silence it. How they found each other, how they built their methodology case by case, how they went from painting haunted houses for grocery money to founding the New England Society for Psychic Research, and how Amityville changed everything. This is Part One. The famous cases — Annabelle, the Perron family, the cases that became blockbusters — are coming. But to understand the buildings, Z says, you have to understand the architect first. Stay curious. But be careful what you look for in the dark. You might not like what finds you. The Bodach: The Shadow That Walks Alone

⚠️ Content Warning: This episode contains descriptions of folkloric death omens, themes of mortality, and supernatural dread. Listener discretion is advised. In the mist-shrouded glens of the Scottish Highlands, some words carry more than meaning. They carry a chill. Bodach. In Gaelic it simply means old man. But in the stories told beside the peat fire on a long winter’s night it means something else entirely. A presence. A thing of shadow and bone that slips down the chimney or taps at the window. It does not come for your hospitality. It comes for your life. And when it comes — there is nothing you can do but wait. In this solo episode Bubah walks through one of the oldest and most enduring creatures in Celtic folklore. Not a beast to be hunted or a monster to be fought — but an omen. The Bodach does not kill. It simply arrives, stands at the edge of a field or passes silently by a window, and within hours someone in that house is dead. He traces the full history — the Gaelic world that created it, the folklorists who raced to preserve it before it was lost, and the four theories for what the Bodach actually is. A cultural archetype. A psychological projection. A parapsychological entity. Or something that exists outside of time entirely, glimpsing death before it arrives and casting its shadow back into our world. The oldest monsters are not the ones with claws and teeth. They are the ones we create to give a shape to our deepest, most formless fears. The Bodach has been doing that for centuries. And it has never stopped watching. Do you have a folklore creature or death omen from your own family’s heritage? We would love to hear it. THE 6 POLAROIDS: Filiberto Caponi's Alien Photographs

⚠️ Content Warning: This episode contains descriptions of a wounded creature, discussion of alleged extraterrestrial contact, and themes that may be disturbing to some listeners. Listener discretion is advised. Pretare d'Arquata, Italy. May 1993. A 23-year-old ceramicist named Filiberto Caponi is closing his garage for the night. He hears something near the corner of his house. A low moaning — not animal, not human. Something else. He thinks it's a kitten trapped in a plastic bag. He reaches out to nudge it free. The bundle moves. It has a head. Arms. Legs. It looks at him — if it even has eyes — and drags itself toward the wall and disappears. That was the first time. It would not be the last. Over the next four months, Caponi saw the creature five more times. Each time he had his Polaroid camera ready. Six photographs. Six chances to prove something impossible was real. In this episode Bubah is joined by a very special returning guest — Z is back — as they walk through the full Caponi case. The six photographs, one by one. The forensic analysis commissioned by one of the world's leading UFO investigators and conducted by a Scotland Yard expert who declared the photos authentic. The Italian court that confiscated the photos, put Caponi on trial — and then dropped the case. The grandmother who saw it too, screamed, and never spoke publicly about it again. An artist with the skills to fake anything. Six photographs that experts couldn't prove were faked. A creature that kept coming back — and then disappeared forever. What did Filiberto Caponi photograph in the mountains of Italy? Thirty years later, he still doesn't know. Neither do we. Have you seen something you can't explain? We want to hear it. The Sunday Morning Slasher: The Predator the System Kept Setting Free

⚠️ Content Warning: This episode contains graphic descriptions of serial murder, stabbing, strangulation, and drowning. Violence against women is discussed in detail. This episode is explicit. Listener discretion is strongly advised. Between 1972 and 1982, Sunday mornings in Michigan and Texas became a hunting ground. A predator moved through the pre-dawn darkness with a purpose so cold and methodical that witnesses who locked eyes with him never forgot what they saw. He had a name, a job, a wife, a child. In those early hours, he became something else. His name was Carl Eugene Watts. The Sunday Morning Slasher. He was evaluated by court-ordered psychiatrists at fifteen years old. Their report called him a danger to society. The judge looked at that report and released him on his sixteenth birthday. He confessed to attacking fifteen women before he turned twenty-one. He was sentenced to one year in county jail. The psychiatric report from that sentencing called him extremely hazardous, lacking in remorse, with a high likelihood of reoffending. They let him out anyway. In this solo episode Bubah tells the full story — who Carl Eugene Watts was, the women he killed, the women who survived and fought back, the investigation that finally caught him, and the plea deal that gave fourteen families a confession but no justice. He names every victim. Every one of them deserves to be remembered as more than a name in a police file. The system failed these women at every turn. This episode doesn't look away from that. Three Encounters from the Fringe: Reddit's Darkest Stories

⚠️ Content Warning: This episode contains discussions of domestic abuse, child abuse, stalking, home intrusion, missing time, and disturbing unexplained phenomena. Listener discretion is strongly advised. Hey everyone — we had a true crime episode in the works for this week, but the flow wasn't right and we refused to give you something half-baked. So instead, Bubah sat down alone and pulled three stories from the darkest corners of Reddit. Stories that have stayed with people for years. Stories that feel too specific to be made up. A house in the California high desert with a warning nailed to its history. A car journey through England where time stopped making sense — and a voice came out of a teenager's mouth that neither she nor her mother could remember. And a clean-cut stranger in Maine who offered a family a place to stay. Three stories. Three moments when reality seemed to hiccup and show something that was never meant to be seen. No tidy endings. No clean explanations. Just the echo of something that happened — and the people who lived through it, still wondering. Z will be back with us soon. And thank you — genuinely, from the bottom of our hearts — for your support, your messages, and your patience. Every single one of you matters to this show more than you know. The Alaskan Black Pyramid: Ice, Secrets & the Legend Beneath Denali

⚠️ Content Warning: This episode contains discussions of unexplained disappearances and conspiracy theories. Listener discretion is advised. North of the Arctic Circle. Buried beneath the endless ice fields of the Alaska Range. A secret is said to sleep. A structure of impossible age and scale. A pyramid of black stone. Older than human history. Taller than the Great Pyramid of Giza. Allegedly discovered by the military, surrounded by a clandestine base, and connected to a technology that defies everything we think we know about physics. Some say it's a power source. Others say it's a weapon. A few say it's a gateway — a portal to somewhere else entirely. In this solo episode Bubah goes deep — no pun intended — into one of the most sprawling and fascinating modern legends in the UFO and conspiracy world. He traces the story from its origins with a single anonymous whistleblower in the 1990s, through the internet echo chambers that transformed it into something far larger, all the way to two men who went looking for it in 2020 and were never seen again. He gives you the facts. He gives you the folklore. He gives you every theory from ancient megastructure to government cover-up to natural geological formation — and then he asks the question that sits beneath all of it. Why are we so desperate to believe something is buried under that ice? Z will be back with us soon. Until then — hold on to your butts, because the echoes remain. Three Creepy British Encounters: Faceless, Forgotten & Lost

⚠️ Content Warning: This episode contains descriptions of ghostly apparitions, historical tragedies involving death by fire and plague, and accounts of faceless figures. Listener discretion is advised. Britain is an old country. Roman walls, medieval dungeons, Victorian railways — layer upon layer of history stacked like sediment. And where there is history, there are ghosts. Tonight Bubah is joined by his brother Willie — a paranormal investigator from the Fort Worth area — for a different kind of episode. Three classic British encounters, told in full, alongside Will's firsthand insight into what it's really like to go looking for the things most people run from. And somewhere in between, the brothers share some stories of their own. A train station in East London where a faceless woman in white has been standing on the platform since 1958. Staff have seen her for decades. No one knows her name. She died in the crash without one. A busy London hub where the sound of children crying has been heard late at night — long after the last trains have run, in a station built over a cholera burial ground that no one told anyone about. And beneath the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, in a close that was sealed during the plague and forgotten for centuries — a little girl named Annie, still reaching out. Still waiting. Still hoping someone will hold her hand. Three encounters. Two brothers. One question that runs through all of it — why do some people never get to leave? Have you visited any of these locations? Have you felt something you couldn't explain? We want to hear it. The Black Hope Curse: When the Dead didn't stay buried

⚠️ Content Warning: This episode contains discussions of death, grave desecration, unsettling paranormal phenomena, and the tragic loss of a young woman. Listener discretion is strongly advised. Newport, Texas. 1982. A quiet suburban neighborhood. Families. Children. The American Dream. A man named Sam Haney wanted a swimming pool in his backyard. He started digging. He found pine boxes. Human remains. Two wedding rings still resting on the fingers of the dead. Beneath the Newport subdivision lay Black Hope Cemetery — a forgotten African American burial ground where over sixty souls had been laid to rest since the Civil War. Former slaves. Their children. Their grandchildren. Buried, abandoned, and then built over without a word to the families who moved in above them. What followed was one of the most documented hauntings in Texas history. In this solo episode Bubah tells the full story — the discovery, the families who lived through it, and the events that drove two households to abandon everything they owned and flee. A clock that glowed without power. A woman's voice in an empty house. Red shoes that vanished and reappeared on a grave — on Betty Thomas's birthday. A young woman who collapsed while digging for the truth and died two days later. And a legal battle that left the families bankrupt while the developer walked free. The dead had been waiting. And they were not at peace. Z will be back with us soon. Until then — the echoes remain. If this episode has affected you, call or text 988 for the Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7.
