2 episodes

The first seven ecumenical councils- recognised by most branches of Christianity- were an attempt in classical antiquity to find a universal doctrine that could unite all Christians. But what were these councils? Why were they needed? That's what this show will cover. Over the course of seven episodes, we'll explore the issues that brought the councils into existence in the first place, the discussions and debates, before winding up with the decisions that came from them. On hold for now!

    Update- Show Timeline

Hi everyone, unfortunately I'm going to have to put the show aside for a bit; although I thought I would be able to manage researching and writing in the run-up to October 2021 alongside my other commitments, it turns out that I was a tad too optimistic. Until I'm a bit less busy, this show is going to go on the back burner as I don't think I'd currently do the topic justice. You will hear from me in the end it's just going to take longer than I planned. Thank you for your patience and feel free to check out my other shows in the meantime- Biopedia and After Alexander. Thanks again!

Ecumene is a podcast where we discuss the seven ecumenical councils which attempted to unite or reunite Christendom. I hope to start it all up in late 2021.
