    Inspiring the Next Generation of Musicians (Audio Version)

    In this episode, I speak with Middle-school band teacher Don Scott about inspiring young people to love music and coaching the next generation of leaders. Mr. Scott is a proud graduate of Bethune Cookman University where he played the trumpet in their famed marching band. He has taught band in middle and high school for 13 years. In addition to teaching, he also performs with a band and is sometimes invited to play professionally with famous musicians and singers.     This week, I finished my first semester as a substitute teacher and experienced the joys of teaching during the last week before Christmas break. My week included bored 6th graders with idle hands; a fight between a boy and a girl in my classroom; lazy, apathetic high school students; a classroom management issue created by admin; and students who tried to bully me into getting their way.
