Ep. 008 - Reclaiming Control Over Your Food Choices with Devon Olner, Holistic Nutritionist

Devon Olner is a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and Health & Wellness Coach based north of Dallas, TX. Her desire to become a nutritionist and work with others seeking health comes from a belief that food is the best preventable medicine. Having healed herself from Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis & Hypothyroidism with natural foods and supplements, she has immense passion for what she does and the knowledge she shares.
There are so many preventable diseases in America and around the world that can go away tomorrow if we simply change the way we eat. This may sound oversimplified but food does not have to be difficult. We are more than just a cog in the system of fast foods.
She believes it’s time for all of us to break out of the cycle to become the best versions of ourselves.
In this episode we talk about various topics surrounding food:
    ○ How diets (and recipes) run in our families.
    ○ We do not have to become ill just because it “runs in the family”.
    ○ Finding the right foods for your unique physiology is important to create optimal health.
    ○ How food can lead to physical pain.
    ○ The more you know yourself, the better able you are to make better choices in alignment with your highest version of health.
    ○ Your dollar is your vote.

Refreshing View on Western Medicine

2 episodes in and I’m already hooked. I’ve experienced the “western medicine” treatment of chronic illnesses and recognized the limitations. There is no denying the need and place of western medical practices, but recognition of alternatives is also needed.

I really enjoyed the part about diagnosis driven treatment in episode 2.
