    Fact Or Fiction

Today’s Discovery Question: Do you have any concerns or perhaps progress in your team building goals? Maybe you have worked with people in the past and it didn't go well. Maybe you have a line in with someone you know you enjoy working with and would like to see your team built around them. Bring awareness to the good and the bad, without attempting to change anything. This awareness will bring into focus any next steps without rash decision making.  Task Of The Day: Begin to plan the pre-release social posting in a way that sets the scene for the story you plan to tell with your release. Remember this is a time to showcase your talent, lay the foundation for the themes you want to address, and cultivate an audience around your core message without needing to make an ask from them.  Inspiration: Is it fact or fiction? What is the story you're trying to tell. Are you making a documentary or premiering a feature film. Will the audience spend there time glued to the screen or are you taking them behind the curtain. Is it fact or fiction.  The Emerging Artist Development podcast was created and hosted by Nathan Dohse, President of AGD Entertainment and the author of Zero To 60 By AGD, and artist development program. ...Is Not A Personality Trait

Today’s Discovery Question: How do you envision your team being structured? A) The Best of The Best. I want to work with industry leaders who have the experience to turn me into the artist I want to be. My team needs big credits and influence in my area of the industry. B) Shared Values. I want to find industry professionals who have clear values of their own that will not only align with my career goals but my life goals as well. C) Family Vibes. I want my team to be comprised of people close to me. Industry professionals who were there from the beginning and friends and family who supported me. I want everyone to feel like we're all in this together. Task Of The Day: Practice The Pivot Don't get caught with your foot in your mouth. Take the time to practice adjusting the answer to one question to move you back towards the main talking points you hope to convey in any given conversation about your music and art, whether that's an interview or casual small talk at a networking event. Stay on topic. Inspiration: You are far more interesting than you give yourself credit for. Your story has depth, that depth is important, you are more than just one personality trait.  The Emerging Artist Development podcast was created and hosted by Nathan Dohse, President of AGD Entertainment and the author of Zero To 60 By AGD, and artist development program. Sustanance

Today’s Discovery Question: Name and artist that has had a career you admire and how/if you plan to follow their path. Include any information you have about their contractual journey either with labels, agents or managers. Is there anything you'd do differently.  Task Of The Day: Showcase It's important to know how you plan to showcase your talent to industry professionals and potential partners. You need to be aware of what might be measured during this showcase. If it is a public event with potential fan engagement it will be impossible for your potential partners to NOT measure that level of engagement. So think about how you might set up the best possible showcase and who the primary audience is and what their experience needs to be.  Inspiration It’s okay to not be ready. It’s okay to be a work in progress. Let the universe tell you when it’s your time to shine, let your community sustain you while you continue to grow. Let your ego give you confidence to step forward, let your humility give you patience to wait your turn. This Is A Good Place

Today’s Discovery Question: What's your perspective on record labels and the current state of the music industry?  A) Getting a record contract is a major goal for my career because I want to be associated with the top acts in my genre who all have deals with labels I admire. B) I have career aspirations that will require a lot of support and funding and a record label seems like the best option for reaching these aspirations. C) If the deal makes sense then I'm open to it but my goals don't include necessarily signing with a label. D) Ownership of my Masters is most important to so any work I do with a label will be contingent on retaining ownership rights. E) Record Labels are dangerous and they treat artists unfairly. I will NEVER sign with a label out of protest. Task Of The Day: When researching labels you should consider places where they are missing an artist like you. Think about people at the label that are on the same career trajectory or timeline as you, maybe the A&R Intern or Coordinator rather than the Senior Vice President. You might also include industry personnel such as producers or investors who might be interested in starting a label? Inspiration: Stop being in a hurry to grow. You are growing all the time. If you're always looking up trying to make a mark that is far out of reach than you'll fail to see the growth you've already made each day. If you want to see your growth then you have to measure. Which means pausing long enough to be where you are and mark that down. When you do that, you'll see that this is a good place, be here now.  The Emerging Artist Development podcast was created and hosted by Nathan Dohse, President of AGD Entertainment and the author of Zero To 60 By AGD, and artist development program.
