    54. When Everything Feels Hard: Simple Things That Help

When life feels overwhelming, it can be easy to assume everything is going wrong or out of control. In this episode, I explore how to navigate those moments without forcing positivity or ignoring how you feel. Instead of pushing through or shutting emotions down, this episode focuses on how to respond in a more grounded and constructive way when everything feels hard. I share practical ways to help you move through overwhelm and regain perspective, especially when life feels full. In this episode, we explore:  How to acknowledge what you are feeling without getting stuck in it, and move from overwhelm into more grounded, practical next steps  How to shift perspective and energy using simple tools, including reframing situations, focusing attention more intentionally, and building awareness of what is within your control  How to create balance when life feels heavy, through connection, small resets (like movement or environment change), and practices such as a win list and the 5:1 positives approach  How to reduce pressure by adapting expectations, grounding yourself in the present moment, and letting go of perfection in favour of “done is enough” Key takeaway You do not need to fix everything or feel positive all the time. When life feels overwhelming, small and simple actions can help you regain perspective, reduce pressure, and feel more grounded in what is actually within your control. Mentioned in this episode  Win list practice (free download here) Circle of control, influence, and concern framework If this episode resonates, start noticing small wins each day and gently redirect your focus towards what is within your control, rather than carrying everything at once. 53. Beyond the Tick-Box: Meaningful Wellbeing Support at Work

Introduction: In this episode, Claudia is joined by Lisa, a Band 7 leader and clinical research nurse, to discuss the findings of her Master’s research into the barriers to staff accessing wellbeing services. They explore the gap between organisational strategy and the practical realities of nursing, looking at why "resilience" is often the wrong word for a systemic problem. What We Explore: The "Access" Gap: Why having a service hidden on an intranet isn't the same as having meaningful support.Structural Barriers: Lisa reveals the real reasons staff don't reach out... from fear of gossip to the weaponisation of unpaid breaks. The Autonomy Argument: A look at the decades-long research into self-rostering and how giving staff agency can prevent burnout.Just Culture & Safety: Moving from punishment to learning, featuring a discussion on drug errors and psychological safety. The PNA Approach: The role of the Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) in providing a thinking space to process clinical and emotional pressures.A Final Thought: If you are currently feeling burnt out or undervalued, please remember: it is not a personal lack of resilience, but the environment you are in. This episode is an invitation to stop apologising for systemic failings and to start prioritising your health and peace. 3. 52. Ready or Not: Start Before You Feel Ready

    MAR 31

    52. Ready or Not: Start Before You Feel Ready

In this episode, Claudia explores what it really means to take action when you do not feel ready. We often wait for certainty, confidence, or the “right time” before we begin. But in reality, readiness is rarely something we feel in advance. More often, confidence is built through action, not before it. Claudia reflects on how overthinking, fear of judgement, and perfectionism can keep us stuck, and why real life is rarely as polished as what we see on the outside. From everyday decisions to bigger life and career moves, the same pattern applies: waiting can become a form of self-sabotage. This conversation also unpacks how our minds filter experience, including negativity bias and confirmation bias, and how social media can reinforce narrow perspectives that do not reflect reality. Ultimately, this episode is a reminder that progress does not come from feeling ready. It comes from taking the next step anyway, trusting yourself, and learning as you go. Key themes:  Taking action before you feel ready  Building confidence through experience  Overcoming overthinking and fear of judgement  Perfectionism vs real-life progress  Reframing thoughts and self-doubt  Trusting yourself to move forward If you have been waiting for the “right moment,” this episode offers a different perspective: start first, and let confidence follow. 51. Confidence in your clothes: Feeling good at any size and every stage of life

What if confidence in your clothes had nothing to do with your size… and everything to do with how you see yourself? In this episode, I’m joined by personal stylist Sarah van Dort for a refreshing and honest conversation about style, body changes, and learning to feel good in what you wear right now. Because let’s be honest… most of us have stood in front of a full wardrobe thinking, “I’ve got nothing to wear.” Together, we explore how to move away from waiting for a future version of yourself and start dressing the woman you are today. We touch on the emotional side of style, the impact of life stages on our bodies, and the simple shifts that can help you feel more confident without overhauling your entire wardrobe. This is not about following fashion rules or buying more clothes. It’s about understanding yourself, reconnecting with your style, and creating a wardrobe that actually works for your real life. ✨ In this episode, we cover: Why confidence doesn’t come from losing weightThe mindset shift that changes how you see your bodyHow to stop feeling overwhelmed by your wardrobeSimple ways to feel more put together (even on busy days)Dressing for your current lifestyle and season of lifePractical tips for returning to work after maternity leave and rebuilding confidenceSubtle style tweaks that can make a big differenceLetting go of clothes that no longer serve youIf this episode resonated, share it with a friend who’s ever said “I have nothing to wear”… chances are, she needs this too.
