Episode 5: Two Cycle Breakers talk about "It Ends with Us"

This is a Bonus casual episode where I talk to Diana Lee Guzman about watching the "It Ends with Us Movie". “It Ends with Us” is a movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel that dives deep into the complexities of love, trauma, and the difficult choices we sometimes have to make to break the cycle of abuse. The story follows Lily Bloom, a young woman who seems to have it all—a flourishing career and a blossoming romance with a charming neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid. However, as their relationship progresses, Ryle’s darker, more violent tendencies start to surface, forcing Lily to confront her past and make some of the hardest decisions of her life. We decided to do a deep dive into our thoughts on the movie because it’s a topic close to home. We know many women who have been subject to domestic violence and some who are no longer here because of it. This book felt particularly touching because it helped put deep emotions into words. As many as 1 in 3 women worldwide are subject to DV and most of us who engage with the book and/or movie can find ourselves or our loved ones in one part of this book or another. This novel can be potentially healing for DV survivors and provide perspective for friends and family of DV survivors. Key points: 💜The actors chosen for the movie were a good fit when compared to the descriptions in the book (Justin obviously doing great advocacy work to get us talking about DV) 💜 The movie missed some key details in the book (including the ‘full circle’ moment Lily has with her mom) 💜The movie did a great job with ‘revealing’ the events in Lily’s POV that couldn’t necessarily be done in the book Recommendations: 💜 Movie could be made into series to capture more of the details of the book 💜 Movie could have had a call to action or resources at the very end to bring awareness to resources Resources: 💜NDVH - Text BEGIN to 88788 💜call 800-799-7233 Follow Diana on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/debonairdiana/ Follow Empowermente on Instagram: www.Instagram.com/empowermente.co Follow my personal Instagram: www.Instagram.com/soyginamoreno Follow me on TikTok: www.Tiktok.com/soyginamoreno

Episode 2: The Hidden Hurdles - Trauma's Role in Stalling Your Success

In this episode, I share a powerful message about the inseparable connection between personal growth and professional success. Sometimes the blockers that we think are technical, are actually personal limiting beliefs. I'll take you on a journey through a story that illustrates this perfectly—my first keynote speech at Idaho State University in April 2023. It was a STEM and healthcare conference for high schoolers, and the days leading up to it were some of the most anxiety-inducing of my life.I talk about the vulnerability I felt sharing my personal story with hundreds of students for the first time and the breakthrough that followed. It was a milestone moment where I realized the importance of embracing my personal journey alongside my professional accomplishments. I share how growing up low-income, dealing with ADHD, and having a toxic parent shaped my path and the lessons I learned from facing these challenges head-on.This week, I also confronted another fear—promoting my podcast on my personal Instagram despite the potential scrutiny from a family member I've gone no contact with. I share how I processed this fear, stood up for my younger self, and accepted that it's not my job to be palatable to anyone. It's a liberating realization that I hope inspires you to face your own fears and limiting beliefs. These personal releases have ultimately led for me to promote my projects more freely and at peace. Tune in to hear about the personal and professional breakthroughs that have shaped my journey, and how unlocking personal growth can lead to abundance in your career and business. If you're passionate about creating a side hustle, starting a business, or just seeking personal development, this episode is for you.Thank you for joining me on this journey. Episode 1: Let's get Personal- Meet Gina Moreno

In this episode, I, Gina Moreno, welcome you to the first-ever episode of Empowermente, the headquarters of Latina Empowerment. I'm thrilled to have you here as I embark on this exciting journey, and I can't wait to look back on this episode to see how much I've evolved over time. I want to share a bit about myself: I'm a first-generation Mexican-American from El Paso, Texas, a unique and vibrant border town where I grew up embracing two cultures. I hold degrees in industrial and systems engineering and have had the privilege of working with renowned companies like Northrop Grumman, Cummins, Lockheed Martin, and Toyota. My career at Microsoft taught me a lot, but it was my love for travel and my passion for advocating for women in STEM that truly shaped my path. In this episode, I delve into the defining moments of my life, particularly the year 2020, which was pivotal for my mental health journey and my transition into entrepreneurship. I discuss my engagement to the love of my life, Jose Andres Mesa, and how my adventures and struggles, including dealing with ADHD and anxiety, have brought me to where I am today. Empowermente is built on three pillars: empowerment and personal growth for first-generation Latinas, entrepreneurship and the unspoken truths of corporate America, and lifestyle and life transitions. My goal is to create a space where we can heal generational trauma, build generational wealth, and navigate life's big transitions together. Expect more structure in upcoming episodes, including quotes of the day, Q&A sessions, and guest interviews.
