Empty Glasses Podcast

Bella Rose

Welcome to Empty Glasses! I’m Bella, a girl in her twenties with a heart for storytelling. I believe there’s so much power in getting real, raw, and honest about who we are, where we’ve come from and what we’ve learned along the way and from my experience, many of those conversations have happened while communing around a table, sipping and dining together. That’s my heart behind each episode — to tell real stories, by real people. I invite you to be a part of these conversations, so grab your drink of choice and join us at the table. There’s a seat for you here. IG: @emptyglassespod

What If You’re Not Supposed to Have It All Together? | feat. Christine + Strawberry Juice

Hi friends! In this week’s episode, I sit down with my friend Christine for a conversation on patience, surrender, and the beauty of being human. We talk about seasons of waiting, disappointment, and burnout, and how those very places can become where God meets us most deeply. Christine shares her journey through missions, uncertainty, and learning to hear God’s voice, as well as the ways He’s been gently undoing perfectionism, performance, and self-reliance in her life. Together, we discuss what it looks like to stop striving, to let your shoulders down, and to trust that you don’t have to have it all together to be fully known and loved by God. I pray you’re encouraged by our conversation because I know I was.  Connect with this week’s guest @christine_j_oseph If this encouraged you in any way, consider sharing with a friend, leaving a rating/review, or letting me know in the comments. The “Good Christian Girl” I Tried So Hard to Be (My Story Pt. 2) | An Unfiltered Conversation Feat. Your EGP Host + A Poppi

Hey friends! In this part two episode, I share the rest of my story, picking up where I left off in the episode I released last week. In part one, I shared a bit of my upbringing, into my college years, and then began sharing how COVID impacted my anxiety, and had me wrestling through panic attacks and crippling fear for the second half of my college career.  I found freedom, though, and true relationship with Jesus during my time with the Circuit Riders. After graduating from college in the Spring of 2021, I moved out to California for a six month DTS (Discipleship Training School). During that season, I grew in hearing the Lord’s voice, my Biblical literacy, and Evangelism.  I share what I’ve been up to since returning home from that life-changing time with CR. From leading a weekly prayer/Bible study for a season, dating then breaking up with then marrying my the love of my life, Noah, on Pentecost (listen to Episode 6 to hear our story), and now working full-time as a graphic designer. This might not be how I “planned” my life, but life with Jesus and walking hand in hand with Him, following His plan is and has been so much greater than any plan I could’ve mustered up on my own. I’ve learned the power in surrendering my plans to The Lord, even when it’s hard, and have seen Him be faithful through every single season. He’s so good, and, if nothing else, I pray you see Him through my story and come to experience His great love for you. I’m so grateful you’re here and pray this stirs your faith in some way 3  Connect with me @_youngbellarose If this encouraged you in any way, consider sharing with a friend, leaving a rating/review or letting me know in the comments. The “Good Christian Girl” I Tried So Hard to Be (My Story Pt. 1) | An Unfiltered Conversation Feat. Your EGP Host + A Poppi

In this week’s episode, you get to hear from me in an unfiltered chat about my story and the things the Lord has taught me along the way. I grew up in a legalistic, performance-based faith community as an extremely introverted, shy girl, claiming that as my identity for so long. After experiencing some loss and a breakup in late high school, I decided from then on to plan my life to a T and entered my college years as an independent “boss babe”, dreaming of climbing the corporate ladder and living a fast-paced life, which now, couldn’t be further from what I want. Those years were primitive for my faith, as I joined CRU (Campus Crusades for Christ), built community in and around my college, and attended 21 Project, a two-week leadership training at the YWAM (Youth With A Mission) base in Kona, Hawaii. That experience pushed me out of my comfort zone and into a few years of extensive travel, from studying abroad in Italy to going on tour with The Circuit Riders across America and beyond.  Now married to the love of my life and working full time, I share in this part one of a two-part series on my story, just how faithful The Lord has been. There are so many stories I didn’t have time to share, but I’ve been able to see God in and through every experience, good and bad, he’s allowed me to walk through up to this point, and I hope hearing my story encourages you to look back and see the same in yours. He’s such a good Father and has such good plans for us, His children. I pray this stirs your faith and hope you’ll stay tuned for part two next week. 36. You’re Allowed to Question God (And It Might Even Strengthen Your Faith) | feat. Natalie + Iced Coffee

In this week’s episode, I sit down with Natalie for an honest conversation about what it really looks like to doubt God as a believer. Despite what we sometimes hear in church or online, doubt doesn’t mean you’re not saved… and we get into it. After sensing God’s leading to leave a rocky relationship, step away from her college lacrosse team, and navigate her college plans being derailed by sudden health issues, Natalie shares how she’s currently in a season of being rebuilt, as well as the breaking down it took to get here. In seasons of trial and uncertainty, it can be easy to run from God, and we discuss how faith isn’t the absence of questions, but it’s the willingness to keep seeking Him in the midst of them. Our conversation ultimately lands on the realization that where there is certainty, there is no room for faith, and that sometimes the deeper invitation isn’t to go searching for the answers, but to find the One who holds them. I pray this conversation leaves you, as it did me, encouraged and filled with a deeper understanding of God’s great love. Also, just a quick note! I’m really working on figuring out my video situation. I apologize for the inconsistency, I just ask for your patience and understanding as I’m still learning. For now videos are available on Spotify, and YouTube is coming soon 3  Connect with today’s guest @nataliemac575 If this encouraged you in any way, consider sharing with a friend, leaving a rating/review or letting me know in the comments. 35. We Don’t Need Cooler Churches We Need Real Community | feat. Kloe + A Lotus

In this week’s episode, I chat with my friend, Kloe, for a timely conversation on the importance of the local church and getting plugged into real community. Kloe and I met during our YWAM (Youth With A Mission) DTS while we were living in California together in a house of 12 girls. Since then, she’s gotten married and has planted roots with her husband, Ty, in their home state of Washington. She shares how in this season she’s shifted her longtime desire for missions to serving in a different capacity within her local church. She and Ty have started a weekly gathering for young adults, called The Table, where they’ve witnessed firsthand Gen Z hungry for the real Jesus, not a diluted version of The Gospel. Our conversation emphasizes the importance of committed church community, intergenerational discipleship, and serving in “unglamorous” ways. It’s encouraging and packed full of practical advice on how to get plugged in, where to get plugged in, and why to get plugged in to fellowship with other believers.  Connect with today’s guest @kloerawls_ @thetableya If this encouraged you in any way, consider sharing with a friend, leaving a rating/review, or letting me know in the comments. 34. From Suicidal to Set Free and Jesus’ Love Changing Everything | feat. Chloe + A Matcha

In this week’s episode, I sit down for a conversation with Chloe, a California native, full-time evangelist, and a radiantly joyful friend. As a daughter of parents who met in the Jesus People Movement, she shares how, while she was raised in a Spirit-filled environment, she drifted away into a life of rebellion and sin. She quickly developed an eating disorder and became heavily suicidal, believing wholeheartedly the lies she was being fed that she wouldn’t make it to 30 years old. However, in hitting rock bottom and encountering Jesus’ tender pursuit and love, she found full freedom and a life of joy. She deferred her plans, moved to Africa for a time, and spent her 20s truly getting to know Christ’s heart. Now, 30 years old, she’s on a mission to see the lost saved, evangelizing, discipling, and building community at home. We discuss surrender and sacrifice, Christ’s trustworthiness, and the need to be filled up before we can pour back out. It’s real, raw, convicting, action-driven, and practical for any believer, no matter where in your faith walk you may be. Stick around to the end, you don’t want to miss this.  Connect with today’s guest @chloroplast____ If this encouraged you in any way, consider sharing with a friend, leaving a rating/review, or letting me know in the comments. 33. Rooted in Christ When the World Pulls at Your Identity | feat. Madison + A Hot Latte

This week’s episode is with my work friend, turned everyday friend, Madison, who shares her powerful story on finding her identity in Christ. From growing up as a military kid, to getting sick and being in and out of the hospital, to swimming in college and later coaching, she walks us through the different seasons of her life and how she’s seen God be consistently faithful through them all, even in hardship. For so long, she felt an attack on her identity, to the point of refusing to go by her full name, and feeling like a chameleon, changing with every social situation. Recently, she completed a grow group at her church, called Rooted, which leads our conversation, centered on keeping our eyes fixed on Christ, being more aware of His presence, and learning to find our identity in Him as opposed to other things. It’s relatable and full of truth and encouragement for anyone, regardless of the season you might find yourself in.  Connect with today’s guest @mads_bish If this encouraged you in any way, consider sharing with a friend, leaving a rating/review, or letting me know in the comments. 32. A Life That Refuses What Doesn’t Lead to Jesus | feat. Jordan + An Electrolyte Drink

In this week’s episode, I sit down with my good friend, Jordan, for a weighty yet compelling conversation on what it really looks like to live set apart for Christ. We touch on suffering as Christians, and how it’s in pruning where new life is able to grow and we become more like Jesus. Suffering becomes a badge of honor when we see that we’re carrying the cross for and with Christ, and He is worthy of that. Living a life set apart for Jesus isn’t easy, but we discuss what it practically looks like in our day-to-day and how, at its core, it reveals that we need to be refusing what doesn’t lead to Jesus in order to become more like Him. If you’re looking for wisdom, conviction, and authenticity, stick around till the end because this might be for you.  Connect with today’s guest @_jordanmacri If this encouraged you in any way, consider sharing with a friend, leaving a rating/review, or letting me know in the comments.
