    In our third episode of Encore!, we discuss the delightfully bizarre film from 1999, 'Being John Malkovich'. Splendidly directed by Spike Jonze and masterfully written by Charlie Kaufman, 'Being John Malkovich' is about the adventures of a puppeteer as he discovers a portal that leads to the mind of the titular actor, John Malkovich. Aarushi, Haeni, and Sami spiral down the paths of existential dread, but ya know, in a fun quirky way.

This week we discuss the 2019 film 'The Farewell', where Billie returns to her hometown in China to celebrate a fake wedding devised to say goodbye to her grandmother - who only has a few weeks to live. Here we discuss things from beautiful cinematography that captures beautifully the Chinese suburbia, to the theme of identifying as an immigrant. Tune in for more wonderful in-depth discussions!
