pneumatikos | spiritual gifts week 1

What exactly are spiritual gifts? Why are they important? How do we use these in our modern context? This Encounter Academy class unpacks the Biblical perspective for spiritual gifts and helps you identify what those mean for you today. We will discuss how to utilize these gifts inside and outside of the church and within your unique context and personality. This week unpacks Paul's analysis of the pneumatikos: the things of the spirit, discusses what spiritual gifts are not and the "why" behind them. Curriculum borrows from teachings and writings of Andy Reese's book The Spiritual Gifts Blueprint: God's Design for Your Gifts, Talents, and Purpose. In our Biblical Timelines class, we combine the historical people, events and places of the Bible with the overarching framework of kingdom theology. Sometimes the Bible may feel like an overwhelming, disembodied fairy tale of a text. Our hope for this class is to anchor it in time and space with an overarching spiritual theme that is relevant to us today. Based on Vaughn Roberts God's Big Picture, we use his Kingdom eras to help segment the Biblical timeline. This week covers The Present Kingdom, The Proclaimed Kingdom and the Perfected Kingdom which includes the entire New Testament.
