Many people say reading is useless, that society values experience, connections, and skills more. But through a recent encounter with a scam, I deeply realized this: reading sharpens one’s perspective and decision-making.

In what seemed like a pleasant interaction, I gradually noticed the other person’s hidden motives. What allowed me to stay calm and step away was the wisdom I had gained from books—like Confucius’ words, “At fifty, one knows the mandate of Heaven”, or Laozi’s teaching, “Thus the gentleman travels all day without leaving his baggage.” These passages became my guardrails and protection when facing life’s complex situations.
