Bite-size Taiwanese | Newbie

I wasn’t even sure a podcast like this existed and was thrilled to find not only it did but was so well done and just fantastic at breaking things up into levels and digestible chunks. I like that there are parts where you can buy extras but listening is free and you can keep listening to things over and ofer again. Of course Taiwan is all about food and I love that many episodes have food themes. Great job keep it up!!!

After a decade of living in Taiwan and having studied Mandarin in college and university in Taiwan, I decided it was finally time to learn Taiwanese. I purchased many books and borrowed elementary school Taiwanese textbooks to learn the language. In the end, this podcast has been my go to resource. It is approachable, entertaining, and incredibly useful. Beyond anything I’ve encountered, this podcast is the way to learn Taiwanese. My disappointment is that it seems Phil and Alan have gone silent. I haven’t seen any recent updates or additions since 2020. Please come back and continue making episodes! If not, thank you for what you did.

I grew in the US where my parents taught and spoke to me in Mandarin but not Taiwanese even though they and my relatives mostly speak to each other in Taiwanese! So grateful for this podcast - everything is well-paced and easy to absorb. Finally a clear understanding to phrases I’ve been hearing my whole life!

It has been very difficult to find Taiwanese lessons. These guys provide a very clear pronunciation of the language and well structured lessons.
