Double Edged Double Bill Episode 167 – Jean-Claude Van Damme Is a Timecop with a Lionheart

Folks, you better practice your splits because this week Double Edged Double Bill is covering Jean-Claude Van Damme films! Yes, Adam and Thomas are looking at two films starring the Muscles from Brussels that speak to all the charming weirdness of his action star persona. First, Van Damme travels to the past with a sweet mullet in Timecop! Then, Van Damme proves he has the heart of a lion and the buttocks of a very fit Belgian in Lionheart! Together, Adam and Thomas answer all the crucial questions. What made Van Damme stick out from other 90s action heroes? How many camera angles does one need to capture a single Van Damme kick or punch? Which two picks will they choose for next week’s topic of Men on a Mission films? Well, tune in after you’re done traveling to 1994 with your bucket of KFC to find out!

Flopcast 481: Look at What’s Happened to 1981

Flopcast 481: Look at What’s Happened to 1981

Flopcast episode 481! Our ten-part series about the 1980s continues with a look at all the TV shows that debuted in 1981! Prime time soaps were on the rise (Dynasty, Falcon Crest), the Six Million Dollar Man became the Fall Guy, and Hill Street Blues premiered alongside 600 other (instantly forgotten) detective shows. We had a Brady Bunch spin-off (with Marcia, Jan, and their goofy husbands), a Jeffersons spin-off (Florence gets her own show… for a month), and an almost-but-not-quite Little House on the Prairie spin-off (the even-weirder-in-retrospect Father Murphy). Only one long-running sitcom started in 1981, and it was… Gimme a Break! (Congratulations to Ms. Carter and Mr. Sweet.) Love, Sidney and Private Benjamin lasted a couple of years, which isn’t bad compared to the stuff only Kevin remembers, like Best of the West and Open All Night. Then there were some truly obscure short-lived oddities starring Gabe Kaplan, Sam Jones, and the Smothers Brothers. It was a weird year, but that’s how we like it. And we give special attention to our favorite 1981 series, The Greatest American Hero. Kornflake saw the extra-long pilot episode for the first time just this week. Believe it or not.

Pop Culture Cosmos #256- EA Returns To Dead Space, The Best Of Comic-Con@Home, and We Go Trailer Hunting Again!

A lot on the pop culture plate for Josh and Gerald this week as the controversy hits the video game industry with the California vs Activision-Blizzard and the allegations of sexual harassment. And with Ubisoft mired in a similar mess, did the tepid announcement of the 6v6 shooter XDefiant soil the Tom Clancy name even more? Plus the guys cover the major announcement of EA Play with the return of a revamped Dead Space, the new animation style of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, and we go on the hunt for new trailers with thoughts on Dune, The Last Duel, and Jackass Forever! All this and the new host of Friday’s PCC Multiverse Jamie Monroy is here as we recap the best of the rest of Comic-Con@Home and EA Play, and who won the box office battle between Old and Snake Eyes: GI Joe Origins.
