    Why Familiarity Matters More Than You Think in Legacy

    Does switching decks give you a competitive advantage, or are you giving up the edge that comes from mastering one strategy? Zac and ForceofPhil break down the trade-offs between constantly adapting to the Legacy metagame and committing to a single deck over the long term. Phil explains why years of playing Miracles have helped him recognize new strategies, navigate difficult matchups, and find opportunities that less-experienced pilots might miss. Zac explains why he switches decks when the metagame turns against his strategy, using his move from Affinity to Cephalid Breakfast as an example. We also get into the less obvious benefits of deck mastery: better mulligan decisions, knowing your outs, understanding which cards remain in your library, reducing cognitive load, recognizing critical threats, and making more informed sideboarding decisions.
