How to Safeguard Yourself From Online Scams--S6.E5

How to Safeguard Yourself From Online Scams--S6.E5

Today we pivot slightly to talk about a growing concern in American society--Phishing, Smishing, and Vishing. That is, online scams involving email (phishing), texting (smishing), and voice or telephone (vishing). They're not only unethical, they're downright illegal.

Scamming incidents are on the rise and they're getting more sophisticated, leaving thousands of victims in their wake. This episode provides information on three important areas:

The first segment describes common scams out there, and our personal experience with them.

In the second part (29:36) we give you a list of safety practices to help keep your assets protected.

The third segment (44:30) outlines immediate steps to take if you find yourself caught up in a scam.

Knowledge is power and forewarned is forearmed. We hope the discussion in this podcast leaves you better equipped to spot scams and to keep yourself and your family protected.

Asking for Rides to and From the Airport--S6.E4

Asking for Rides to and From the Airport--S6.E4

Today we're talking about a subject I never really considered until I heard a lengthy discussion about it on the radio before Christmas. That is, the question of picking visitors up at the airport and giving them a lift to the airport to catch a flight. To whom do you give rides and when do you suggest they take a taxi or an Uber? Perhaps you've never even thought about this, but giving it some consideration may make you a more thoughtful guest in the future.

I first heard this etiquette topic on the Clay and Buck Show. Check out their website where you can find out where to find their program and how to listen to their podcast.

A guided dialogue with differing perspectives

I find the conversations to be interesting and engaging. The participants are thoughtful and the podcast is obviously well-researched. I like the concise conversations. It’s not three people endlessly shooting the breeze to no point. It’s a guided dialogue that offers differing perspectives.

Good for the Soul

It is refreshing to be able to listen to this friendly, engaging dialogue about relatable scenarios. I feel like I’m having an interesting conversation with my friends. I find myself chiming in as I listen and pretending to be the fourth panelist. I am a big fan of Marna, Kelly and Mike. Marna has a charming and alluring way of presenting well researched topics in a professional way. Kelly adds in the legal knowledge for an extra brain tease. She does this in a girl-I-would-like-to-have-a-beer-with way. Mike reminds me of the quintessential father-knows-best kind of guy bringing grounded reassurance that wholesome values are still good for the soul.
