    24. What is Name, Image, and Likeness?

    24. What is Name, Image, and Likeness?

Last month, the Supreme Court ruled that as of July 1, 2021, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) cannot stop student athletes from profiting off of their name, image, and likeness. But what is your name, image, and likeness and why is this such a controversial ruling? In this week's episode, Ciara and Holli dive deep into the conversation of college sports and what marketing has to do with any of it. We interview two sports experts, Dr. Howard Patterson, UT Tyler Director of Athletics and Cindy Smoak, Executive Director of SPORTyler. With our powers combined, we discuss the pros and cons to this new ruling and the effects it might have on universities, college athletes, and marketing in the future.
