    This week DJ takes Gage through the astonishing history behind one of the most iconic modern gestures, the high five, and how culturally important it is. Was it born in a legendary Dodgers game in 1977? Does it stretch back to jazz clubs and wartime camaraderie? Was it invented by a cartoon girl who could travel through time? All of these theories will be tested and tried as we seek to discuss the origin of the high five and its roots in African American culture, gay culture, and the broader American culture. Though we are all familiar with the high five as a gesture associated with unity, connection, solidarity, and celebration, there is much history to be seen behind this simple gesture.
