Two-Time Award-Winning Family Chili Recipe (courtesy of Mom): Over medium heat w/splash olive oil: 1 finely chopped small onion, 2 cloves minced garlic and 1lb ground turkey (or meat of choice); sauté for 5 mins or until meat is cooked Add: 1 finely chopped red bell pepper, 1 28oz can of crushed tomatoes, 1 15oz can of fire roasted diced tomatoes, small can of chopped green chilies, 1tsp cumin, 2 1/2 Tbsp chili powder, 1tsp oregano, and 1 1/2 tsp salt; simmer on low for an hour Add 1 14oz can of drained and rinsed kidney beans and simmer another 20 minutes Add crushed red pepper and/or additional salt to taste Serve with shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and/or tortilla chips
