    Diddy on Trial

Send us a text Baby oil. No Diddy. Ok now that we've got that out of the way... Everything's Canceled podcast is back! Your hosts Herman and Lorena are back to discuss the first 2 weeks of P Diddy's criminal trial. Diddy has been in jail in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn awaiting trial since September of 2024, the same jail in which Jeffrey Epstein "committed suicide" in 2019. No cameras are allowed in the Manhattan courtroom but we have been sifting through a constant slew of trial related information flowing from countless media outlets, courtroom reporters, and courtroom sketches. We attempt to make sense of the prosecution strategy and potential for sentencing. We discuss the relationship with Diddy's family, his sons Justin and King Combs, and twin daughters "The Combs Twins", who have been seen attending the trial in support, and speculate regarding their involvement in Diddy's personal life, criminal activity, the raid on his Miami mansion and more. We discuss some of the lawyers involved in Diddy's defense and their relationship to other famous cases/defendants and Herman makes an attempt to connect theirs and Diddy's relationship to power in the entertainment industry as star-makers and/or star-breakers.  A very pregnant Cassie Ventura testified for most of the first week of the trial. We discuss some of the contents of her testimony and defense strategies used in her cross-examination. We also cover the testimony of Dawn Richard, formerly of singing group Danity Kane, and Kerry Morgan, Cassie's friend, who both corroborate Cassie's claims of violent encounters with Diddy, Daniel Philip and Sharay Hayes, known as "The Punisher", both former male sex-workers who testified to taking place in "freak offs", and the testimony of Israel Flores, a former security guard at the InterContinental Hotel who testified as a witness to the events of March 5, 2016, the day of the leaked security video showing Diddy being violent with Cassie. We finish with a discussion about the discourse regarding the leaked video and how that reflects on who carries the burden of proof in sexual assault and violence scenarios. Herman makes the case that Puff Daddy is a prime example of Herman's Rule #3 of Cancel Culture: his music was never any good in the first place, so we don't lose much by "canceling" him. We also discuss the New York Times Magazine article "I knew Diddy for years. What I now remember haunts me." by former Vibe magazine editor Danyel Smith. We have more coming soon! Nev Schulman and Catfish: The TV Show

Send us a text 1984: Nev Schulman is born. Age 18: Nev gets a tramp stamp. 2025: Everything's Canceled podcast returns with a new episode "Nev Schulman and Catfish: The TV Show"! Your hosts Lorena and Herman are back to discuss the life and times of television host and filmmaker Yaniv "Nev" Schulman and answer the question: "Is Catfish canceled?" "Catfish" entered the cultural lexicon following the release of the hit documentary in 2010. Made by brother Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, the film follows the story of Nev's online relationship with a fictional "catfish" whom he discovers is a deception created by an older woman posing online as her own daughter. Nev went on to host 8 seasons of a television series based on the film "Catfish: The TV Show" (2012) on MTV. In 2004 Nev attended Sarah Lawrence college, where he studied dance and photography and was expelled in 2006 following a violent incident at the school's "Sleaze Ball" dance, at which Schulman was accused of taking photos of LGBTQ couples without permission. In his 2014 book In Real Life: Love, Lies & Identity in the Digital Age Nev describes the incident as, "No big deal" saying, "I punched the person and ran off".  The victim described the incident differently saying, "I confronted him, and asked him to stop taking pictures... I tapped his shoulder and he turned and hit me out of nowhere, I went down and he held me in a head lock and repeatedly punched me while I tried to get free." After a student letter-writing campaign the university chose to expel Schulman despite his alumnus mother's influence at the college. A former administrator commented on Nev's legacy at the school saying, “All I can say on the record, as the former Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, is that he was a condescending, entitled, reprehensible tool.” After being expelled from college for a violent incident, Nev went to work at an anti domestic violence non-profit in New York run by his mother. Lorena covers Nev's own online presence, including occasions on which he has drawn criticism on Twitter for his reaction to the Ray Rice domestic violence incident and comments regarding the hashtag #blackgirlsrock. We discuss the circumstances of the romance between Nev and future wife/baby-mama Laura, universally reviled as the worst temporary co-host in a revolving series of temporary co-hosts on Catfish: The TV show. Sometime after Nev is canceled by black twitter, Miss Teen USA 2010 and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kameran "Kamie" Crawford joined Catfish as permanent co-host. However, recent events on social media have revealed that Kamie has since left the show. We discuss some ideological differences that may have created a rift between Nev and Kamie and attempt to answer the question: "Is Catfish canceled?". Garth Brooks - Part 2

Send us a text We've got more to say about the Garth Brooks sexual assault allegations and resulting retaliatory lawsuit saga, so your hosts Lorena and Herman are back with another Garth-pisode of Everything's Canceled Podcast. We start with a few minor corrections and updates regarding Garth background info from our previous episode: Can you stream Garth Brooks' music and where? Garth's state of residence and details regarding Garth: the college years. Then we dig in to all of the most commonly repeated arguments from Garth fans defending Garth... Do they stand up to scrutiny? Why are Garth fans adamant the name of the accuser should be made public? Is Garth Brooks' cheating a known secret to fans? We revisit Lorena's theory Garth and Trisha Yearwood may be in a swinging marriage and consider the 2023 country music award show appearance at which Dolly Parton jokes "G.O.A.T." may stand for "Garth Organizing A Threesome" for them and her. Fans familiar with Garth's schedule have raised doubts, claiming he could not have spent 5 full days with the victim, as described in the lawsuit, because he was scheduled to play concerts and make appearances in other places within that time. Are these discrepancies significant enough to cast doubt on the accusers account of events? We also return to the discussion regarding the highly controversial "upside-down, dangling from the ankles" sex position described in the lawsuit and prove unequivocally that it is indeed possible, complete with receipts and pornographic evidence. And finally... Where are the bodies Garth?! We address the popular online rumor: Is Garth Brooks a serial killer? All this and more on this exciting episode of Everything's Canceled Podcast! Garth Brooks

Send us a text Do you need to feel the thunder? Everything's Canceled podcast is rolling back in with a new country music episode! Slip on down this week with your friends Herman and Lorena as we discuss the low places and social graces of best-selling artist Garth Brooks. Beloved by fans, Garth sold enough cds in the 1990's to be the only artist to achieve nine certified diamond albums. If you want to hear Garth's music you'd better be near a jukebox or radio, or you still need to buy one of his cd's because he has vehemently resisted allowing his music on streaming platforms. In 2005, Troyal Garth Brooks married fellow singing star Trisha Yearwood and solidified their status as a country music power couple. Garth has also positioned himself uniquely as a vocal supporter of LGBTQ rights and liberal values of inclusivity and diversity, while uncontroversially maintaining status as an icon of country music. Garth is now involved in a legal battle with an anonymous former female employee who did hair and makeup for Yearwood since 1999 and Brooks since 2017, despite the fact that Garth Brooks is bald. Jane Roe filed her suit against Garth Brooks for assault, battery, sexual battery and gender violence in court in Southern California in October 2024. Anticipating this lawsuit, Brooks went on the offensive, filing an anonymous defamation suit earlier in 2024. We discuss the details described in the lawsuit, including allegations that Brooks exposed himself to Jane Roe on several occasions, walking out of the shower naked with an erection and "flexing his muscles" in an attempt to show off, asked for oral sex and requested the victim wear her glasses so that he could cum on them, forcibly raped Jane Roe in a hotel room while holding her upside down by her ankles, bragged about the diversity of his numerous sexual conquests saying that he had, "f****d women on every inch of his hotel room, despite their race", frequently kissed and fondled Yearwood in front of Jane Roe and suggested that it "would be hot" to see the two women together, and on numerous occasions required her to do his hair and make up topless while he masturbated and bragged that he "cums gallons". Is there truth to these allegations? Is Garth Brooks' public persona a ruse that disguises a behind-the-scenes real life personality in contrast with his "everyman appeal"? How has Garth's reputation affected public opinion about this case and Brooks' accuser? Can Garth Brooks be canceled? Your hosts Herman and Lorena attempt to answer these questions and more on this week's episode of Everything's Canceled podcast! Featuring appearances by: Garth Brooks' lesbian half-sister and bass player Betsy Smittle, Billy Joel, Teddy Roosevelt, Jimmy Carter, every U.S. president since Reagan except for Donald Trump, Kid Rock, Bud Light, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, minor league baseball, the "Touch 'Em All" foundation for children, Chris Gaines, Cassie Ventura's lawyer Douglas H. Wigdor, dildo-shaped shampoo bottles and so much more! Subscribe for exclusive episodes! - patreon.com/everythingscanceled IG @everythingscanceledpodcast

    Shia LaBeouf

Send us a text JUST DO IT! Everything's Canceled podcast is FINALLY back! Join your hosts Herman and Lorena as we discuss the life and times of canceled Hollywood superstar Shia LaBeouf ...and Herman attempts to pronounce "LaBeouf". Starting his career as a child star playing numerous television roles, Shia found notoriety as the mischievous younger brother Louis Stevens on the Disney Channel's Even Stevens (2000-2003) and appearing in the early 2000's nostalgic classics "Tru Confessions" (2002) and "Holes" (2003).  LaBeouf's film career took off as he played major roles in popular films including "Disturbia" (2007), "Surf's Up (2007), a bunch of "Transformers" movies, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" (2008) and others. As Shia evolved from child star to film star, his career also evolved to include numerous artistic side-projects: appearing in and directing music videos, creating graphic novels, and collaborating with artists Luke Turner and Nastja Säde Rönkkö on numerous projects including #IAMSORRY (2014) for which LaBeouf appeared on the red carpet on the Berlin Film Festival wearing a brown paper bag over his head on which had been written "I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE", #INTRODUCTIONS (2015) which featured LaBeouf performing monologues submitted by art students including one in the style of a motivational speech that eventually led to the viral fame of a clip of Shia shouting encouraging the listener to "MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE!" "JUST DO IT!", and #HEWILLNOTDIVIDEUS (2017-2021) a livestream created in response to the election of President Donald Trump for which participants were invited repeat the phrase "He will not divide us" live on the internet that became the target of repeated internet trolling. We take a deep dive into Shia's complicated romantic history as LaBeouf also evolves into a Hollywood heart-throb and has been romantically linked to many of his co-stars including Megan Fox, stylist Karolyn Pho, future wife and baby mama Mia Goth, and Margaret Qualley. In late 2020 British musician FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit against Shia alleging abuse during their relationship. In interviews she described the abuse as "love-bombing" and "gaslighting". She also described alleged threatening behavior including threatening her with reckless driving and physical abuse that caused extensive bruising. The lawsuit has been delayed several times and is currently set to go to trial in late 2024. LaBeouf and Mia Goth reunited in 2020 and had a daughter in 2022. In subsequent interviews Shia has claimed sobriety and issued apologies for "hurting those closest to him", "taking accountability", "cheating on every partner", praising his accuser as "a saint for creating the avenue" for him to "experience ego death". We discuss the details of Shia's apology and weigh in on whether he has been or can be redeemed and what that means for celebrities and their victims.  Thank you to all of our ExC fans for sticking with us and welcome to all of our new listeners! Pee-wee Herman

Send us a text Everything's Canceled podcast is back and this week your hosts Herman and Lorena are taking you on a big adventure with the extraordinary and unusual story of Pee-wee Herman. The character of "Pee-wee Herman" was created by actor/comedian Paul Reubens during a 1978 improv exercise with the comedy group the Groundlings. After failing to be hired on Saturday Night Live, he developed a stage show based on the character and began making appearances on late night tv as Pee-wee. Pee-wee was a hit, audiences laughed along with his boyish exuberance and he was immediately recognizable for his tight fitting grey suit, red bow-tie, crew-cut hair, high-pitched voice, and distinctive laugh. This lead to a CBS television show Pee-Wee's Playhouse (1986-1991) and movies "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" (1985) and "Big Top Pee-wee" (1988), featuring numerous memorable characters, scenes, and jokes they are now considered cult classics. At the height of his popularity in the late 80's, Pee-wee toys and merchandise generated as much as $25 million annually. In 1991, at an adult movie theater in Sarasota, FL Reubens was caught in a sting by Sarasota PD and charged with indecent exposure. News swept the media, the strange man-child character caught with his pants down in a XXX theater was irresistible fodder and Pee-wee became the butt of many jokes. Re-runs of Pee-wee's Playhouse were taken off the air and Pee-wee toys were pulled from shelves. In 1999 his career was partially revived as Paul Reubens was cast in the star-vehicle, superhero film "Mystery Men" and he appeared as himself for the first time on television to promote the film. Then in 2002 a "tip from a witness" lead to an investigation into Paul Reubens and actor Jeffrey Jones, both of their houses were searched by police and Jones was found in possession of photos he had created of a 14 year old boy posing nude, wearing costumes and with stuffed animals. Paul Reubens was found with, according to him, "muscle magazines, homosexual vintage erotica, and photographic studies of teen nudes". He plead "no contest" to misdemeanor possession of obscene material improperly depicting a child under the age of 18 in sexual conduct. Despite his plea, Reubens claimed, "what the city attorneys viewed as pornography, he considered innocent art" and that he is "not a pedophile". Join us as we discuss the life and career of Pee-wee Herman, attempt to answer the question of whether Pee-wee was indeed canceled and whether or not it was deserved. What was Pee-wee/Reubens' sexuality and how does the affect our relationship to his character? Was Reubens unfairly prosecuted and painted as a pedophile or was he possibly involved in illegally re-creating material similar to the kind of vintage erotica he was known to collect? Featuring appearances by: Peewee Herman as himself, Paul Reubens as Peewee Herman, the Israeli Air Force, the Groundlings comedy group, Phil Hartman, Gary Austin, John Paragon, Lynne Marie Stewart, Laurence Fishburne, Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, "the richest girl in the world" Doris Duke, Chandi Hefner, Imelda Marcos, Nancy Nurse, Cyndi Lauper, Annette Funicello, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Steve from Blue's Clues, Elton John, David LaChapelle, actor and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Jones, Rob Lowe's sex tape and many more! Drake Bell - Part 2

Send us a text Is Drake Bell canceled? Everything's Canceled podcast is back this week to wrap up the second half of the Drake Bell story. Your hosts Lorena and Herman discuss and analyze Drake's latest song and music video "I Kind Of Relate", released concurrently with the documentary "Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV" (2024) on which he revealed he was the victim of child sexual assault by actor/dialogue coach Brian Peck. Will there be a Drake and Josh (2004-2007) reboot? Lorena considers the strangeness of the real life relationship between Drake Bell and Josh Peck and puts it in context with a timeline of Drake's life including his issues with substance abuse and 2021 conviction for attempted child endangerment and disseminating matter harmful to a juvenile. We cover the allegations made by Drake's ex-girlfriend, actress Melissa Lingafelt, on her Tik Tok of physical and verbal abuse, including her description of the verbal abuse saying "imagine the worst type of abuse", mirroring Drake's description of his own abuse from the "Quiet on Set" documentary. We also cover additional allegations made by additional ex-girlfriends Gillian Leos and actress Paydin LoPachin, including the allegation that Drake "slept with 100s of underage girls" and confirmations of similar verbal and physical abuse. We also describe three additional allegations of statutory rape made against Drake by anonymous Tik Tok users, sent to, screenshot and posted to social media by Lingafelt. We briefly consider Drake's response to Lingafelt's allegations. We cover one more concerning Tik Tok video, that appears to show Drake in a relationship with another teenage girl recently, within the the last few years. We also discuss the letter written by actress Kimmy Robertson (Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989), Twin Peaks (1990-1991), Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead (1991), in defense of Brian Peck, to the judge in his 2004 case in which he plead "no contest" to charges of oral copulation with a minor under 16 and performing a lewd act with a 14- or 15-year-old. In the hand-written letter she describes Peck's victim, who we now know to be Drake Bell, as a "sleuth-like" and "outrageous, overtly gay oversexed person", who she claims no homosexual male crew members would be alone in a room with. We wrap up by discussing the image we have been presented of a freshly post-rehab, therapized and "healed" Drake Bell. Should we be critical of "Quiet on Set" for not appropriately addressing Drake's past? Can we comprehend and see Drake as both victim and abuser? Should we do the same for Brian Peck considering the statistical likelihood that he could be a victim as well? What does accountability look like for abusers and how do we break cycles of abuse? If you haven't already, check out "Drake Bell - Part 1" and our previous episodes on Nickelodeon, "Quiet on Set", Brian Peck, and Dan Schneider "Nickelodeon - Dan Schneider and Brian Peck - Part 1" and "Nickelodeon - Dan Schneider and Brian Peck - Part 2: Drake Bell vs Brian Peck" available for download now!
