In this episode we talk about how Hans-Olof Nilsson´s company, Nilsson Energy is commercializing off-grid hydrogen storage for a number of companies, a pre-school for 150 children and stadff (!!), developed a unit that can replace diesel generators and much more!

Today I continue my conversation with my really inspiring guest Christopher Engman talking about a brilliant way to store energy using old mines! 

Engman is founder and chairman of the Swedish startup Mine Storage.   

In part 1 we talked about how the Mine Storage technology works so check it out by following the link below if you that if you haven´t already!   

Mine Storage is getting more and more attention and has come a far way and is now cooperating with utilities and grid providers to make use of old mines and turning them into large energy storage facilities using pump storage hydro.  This is a technolgy that is proven and that can be very useful to help store energy from wind and solar and provide it to the grid when needed!

I´m back after a longer break finalizing the construction drawings and plans for my really cool energy house that I hope to built in 2023!   But now I´m back with something that really excites me and that I hope can inspire others, a fully loaded episode about electric container ships!   Imagine large container ships leaving for example Oslo in Norway heading for Rotterdam with 1000 containers onboard but where 15 of the containers are fully packed with Lithum Iron Phosphate (LFP batteries) to run the whole ship with about 100 MWH of energy to take the ship more than 500 nautical miles before charging!   

Well dream no more! Join me for this years Christmas/Special Holiday episode -where I´m joined by the Norwegian company ZEN OCEANS´s CEO and founder Fridtjof Camillo Eitzen!   Fridtjof is a fifth generation oceanic shipper with about 140 years of oceanic shipping experience in his family´s cargo! He shares not only how it can be done but how Zen Oceans are working to make it a reality with today´s battery technology and clever logistics planning and why he is convinced that it can be economically viable and in parity or well, even better than diesel/conventional container ships are today!  

Now an idea I have is this: Imagine combining this with Einride´s autonomous heavy electric trucks/Pods without a cabin! Einride´s pods could be delivering fully loaded containers with Christmas presents (or even better: food items!) to large container terminals at harbour hubs such as Rotterdam in the Netherlands, where they can be loaded onto fully electric container ships such as the one´s Zen Oceans are developing (and yes in the future fully autonomous too!).  

I mean, how cool and indeed game changing wouldn´t that be!? That is the future we should aim for!
