Evolve This!

What drives natural selection? That’s the ultimate question—the one that drives this podcast, this inquiry, this journey. We often think of evolution as something purely biological, but what if it’s something more? What if love, consciousness, and human connection are forces just as fundamental to our evolution as survival of the fittest? In Evolve This, we explore philosophy, healthcare, physics, cosmology, quantum concepts, and theory development—all in search of understanding the invisible forces that shape us. From social justice in medicine to the nature of time, from the ethics of patient care to the mystery of the universe’s expansion, this podcast is a space to ask big questions and challenge the way we think. As Einstein once wrote to his daughter: "When scientists looked for a unified theory of the universe, they forgot the most powerful unseen force: Love. Love is Light, that enlightens those who give and receive it. Love is gravity, because it makes some people feel attracted to others. Love is power, because it multiplies the best we have, and allows humanity not to be extinguished in their blind selfishness." This podcast is about seeking that force—the thing that binds us, the thing that propels us forward. Maybe it’s love, maybe it’s something deeper, something we haven’t yet measured—but something that is undeniably there. This is my journey—to develop a theory, to write a book, to explore the biggest ideas in the universe, and to question what it really means to evolve. Join me. Let’s find out together.

The Evolution of Care: Ethics, Policy & Action

In this episode of Evolve This, we dive deep into the hidden injustices of healthcare, where insurance companies—not doctors—too often decide who gets treated and who doesn’t. Imagine your loved one needing a life-saving procedure, only to be delayed or denied because of bureaucratic red tape. It happens every day. We explore real-world consequences of these policies, from unnecessary risks patients must endure to the ethical dilemmas healthcare providers face. Drawing from personal experience in the cath lab, historical examples like Jane Addams’ Hull House, and modern-day social justice theory, we uncover how systemic inequities shape patient care—and why we must challenge them. Along the way, we reflect on philosophy, morality, and the forces that push people to extremes, from the moral dilemmas explored in Dexter to larger questions about justice—when does systemic injustice lead to desperate action? And in the end, we return to a force greater than policy, power, or profit: love. Inspired by Teilhard de Chardin, we discuss how love might be the missing, measurable force that drives justice, propelling humanity toward a better, more equitable future. Why do insurance companies dictate care? What role does social justice play in fixing the system? How can we advocate for change—without losing hope? Join us for this raw, insightful, and urgent conversation about the fight for fairness in healthcare. Because good always prevails—if we fight for it.
