    Living in a treehouse is a dream... until the rain falls in. We’re settling into our new roles as island managers, but the honeymoon period officially ended with the first monsoon. In this episode, we talk about the soggy reality of living in a home that isn't exactly "weather-tight." When the storms roll over the island, we aren't just watching the rain—we’re basically part of it. Then there are the neighbors. Our new jungle housemates don’t exactly knock; from the many-legged to the furry, we’ve had a constant stream of uninvited animal guests making themselves comfortable in our living space. This week is all about the "exceptional" discomfort of pushing our own boundaries. We’ve stepped so far out of our comfort zone that we can’t even see it anymore, redefining what we thought we needed to survive and thrive. But despite the damp bedsheets and the creature encounters, the rewards are massive—there is nothing quite like being this deeply immersed in the raw beauty of the Cambodian wild.     Our early retirement was fun, but the jungle called and we actually picked up the phone. The backpacks are down, and the "work" has begun—but don't worry, we haven't bought suits. In this episode, we reveal the massive life change we've been teasing: we’ve swapped the nomadic life for a permanent spot on a rugged, undeveloped Cambodian island. Divina has outdone herself this time. We are officially living in a treehouse in Cambodian the jungle and taking on the roles of managers at a remote hippy retreat. It’s a total 180 from the luxury of Kuala Lumpur; we’ve traded high-end mocktails for high-altitude sleeping and we are diving headfirst into the raw, beautiful, and sometimes chaotic reality of island living. How did we land this? What exceptional decisions (and perhaps a few wild coincidences) had to align for us two to end up running a retreat in the middle of nowhere? We’re breaking down the journey from "travelers" to "island residents" and sharing our first impressions of our new, leafy home.     We’re shopping for a secret, and we’re doing it in style. Hello from country number five! We have officially touched down in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for our final week of freedom before we start a brand-new job in a very remote setting. We aren't revealing the location just yet, but let’s just say the preparations required a serious "shop till we drop" mission. Now, busy mega-cities are not usually Russell & Andrew coded, but Kuala Lumpur managed to do the impossible: it won us over. We found a rhythm here that we never expected, falling for the food, the culture, and the surprisingly easy flow of the city. To celebrate our final night before heading into the unknown, we decided to go out on a high note—literally. We headed to the bar in Merdeka 118, the second-tallest building in the world, to toast to our journey with the entire glittering skyline at our feet. It was the ultimate taste of luxury before we traded the city lights for a much more isolated life.     We survived the flight. We’re not so sure about the volcano. This week, we took a leap of faith and flew to Java in what can only be described as a "rusty tin can." But once our feet were back on solid ground, the real adventure began. We headed straight for the legendary Mt. Bromo to witness the sunrise. While the scene at the summit was absolutely breathtaking—a landscape that looks more like the moon than Earth—the journey to get there was... well, let’s just say it was anything but comfortable. We’re pulling back the curtain on the freezing temperatures, the crowds, and the sheer grit required to see one of the world's most famous views. After thawing out, we hopped on a train to Yogyakarta, the cultural heart of Indonesia. We explore the fascinating reality that in this archipelago, every island feels like its own distinct country. Now, we're navigating the most populated island on the planet and soaking in the art, history, and soul of Yogya.     Is this heaven, or just the base of a volcano? This week, we continue our journey around the massive base of Mt. Rinjani. Starting in the north, we were absolutely gobsmacked by the sheer abundance of life. Thanks to the volcano's nutrient-rich soil, there are rice paddies stretching as far as the eye can see. It genuinely felt like we’d stepped into a tropical heaven. But the real adventure began when we handed the reins to Divina. Following an "accommodation-led" hunch, we headed to Sapit with no idea what to expect. What we found blew us away: the Hidden Gillis. Not a single tourist in sight—just pure, untouched beauty and the kind of discovery you only get when you trust the journey. To wrap it up, we headed to Tetebatu, a dense tropical village where the clouds finally burst. Between the heavy rain and a rough bout of food poisoning, it wasn't exactly a spa day—but even being stuck in bed couldn't take the shine off this incredible part of the world. We compare the rural, minimal-tourist vibe of the Secret Gilis with the high-energy, world-famous Gili Islands. It’s a fascinating look at how travel changes a landscape, and we’re diving deep into which one won our hearts. Speaking of diving, we experienced some of the best snorkeling of our entire lives—even if the ocean had other plans for Russell. We share the story of how a peaceful swim turned into a survival mission when Russell was nearly dragged out to sea by the intense currents. And if that wasn't enough adrenaline, we have to talk about the journey there. The boat ride to the Gilis was easily the most dangerous we’ve ever been on. Let’s just say it was giving Titanic. We genuinely weren't sure we’d make it, but we survived to tell the tale! Despite the danger and the currents, the trip turned into a beautiful experience surrounded by a big group of friends. We swapped the sand for the smell of burning rubber at the MotoGP, watching motorcycles fly around the track in a blur of speed and adrenaline. However, an adventure wouldn't be an adventure without a crisis. The trip took a sharp turn when Russell got bitten by a dog, sending us on an urgent, day-long quest across the island for the right rabies vaccine. How do two former flashpackers who avoid cities handle the global epicenter of urban chaos? The solution came in two parts: First, the arrival of our friend and social media star, Hannah, providing some much-needed familiar energy. Second, a mandatory escape into the city's hidden world of luxurious settings, proving that sometimes, the only way to survive the chaos is to rise above it.
