As a scholar whose work focuses on the Napoleonic era, I have to give credit where credit’s due - not many podcasts that discuss the legacy of the complicated antihero that is Napoleon (of which there are many) truly capture the intricacies of his personal life. In a recent episode of this podcast, however, the creators breathe life into the world of a serial dater - late in his life and cut off from the remains of his empire, Napoleon channeled his despotic energy into building short but highly sexual flings with his fellow exiles. Most notably, this podcast highlights the critical role that the brothers Elba and Belba (all too often exiled themselves to the back pages of our history books) played in the love life - and death - of this iconic man. A 10/10 - for the historical detail alone.

First of all, the concept behind this podcast is genius. What an amazing platform for comedy. Second, the cast is EXCELLENT (including all the guests) and they clearly have a GREAT time creating each episode. It feels like you’re hanging out with them all as you listen. Thirdly, the production value is chef’s kiss. The music, sound affects, and editing all make you feel like you are watching an improv show PLUS. Couldn’t recommend more for someone who wants to laugh and smile so much that their cheeks hurt. So happy that this show exists!! :,)
