Expecting is a true crime podcast focusing on people who were pregnant at the time of their death. Homicide is a leading cause of death for pregnant people and while there is a person directly responsible for inflicting the violence or committing the murder, we (Jackie and Kate) think we are all culpable. We believe we all perpetrate systems like capitalism, white supremacy and misogyny and it is those systems that put us all in danger. You can contact Jackie or Kate expectingpodcastmedia@gmail.com.

True crime in a Post-Roe world

This podcast is for the avid true crime listener who is ALSO interested in the systemic forms of oppression that lead to so many senseless murders, specifically of pregnant women. From this podcast, I learned that homicide is the #1 cause of death among pregnant women, a shocking statistic that becomes all the more frightening in the face of Roe’s (potential/imminent) repeal. Kate and Jackie tell the gruesome stories of pregnant women who are senselessly killed, and they also recognize and unpack the socio-economic and political forces that created the conditions for said murders. More true crime should be covered with such brilliance and compassion.

WOW WOW WOW

A truly important illumination and reminder of what is coming in a post roe America. While the subject matter is heavy, the hosts have the uncanny ability to steal moments of laughter. Can’t wait to hear the next episode, in the mean time I am heeding the warning to “murder men before they murder me” 😂😂😂
