We are a weekly actual play podcast using the Numenera (http://numenera.com) Discovery and Destiny rules. Set one billion years in the future, we journey across the Ninth World. There have been eight worlds before this, where civilizations rose to intergalactic heights only to fall into ashes, leaving a world of strange relics behind them. Join our ragtag crew of messy adventurers as they navigate weird ruins, contend with criminal intrigue, and ignore their own better judgment... Repeatedly.

Customer Reviews
Excellent actual play
In just a few months I’ve raced through over a hundred episodes of this podcast. I’ve deferred holds on library books in favor of Explorers Wanted. Daniel manages to convey the singular bizarreness of Numenera without resorting to extended descriptions that would bog down action. The characters are complicated and messy and sincere. The group has great cohesion and momentum—every episode is an hour and they fit *so much* action and character into that time. If you aren’t a Cypher/Numenera player, the game mechanics are pretty simple and don’t interrupt the story. If you are a Cypher player or want to hear examples of play before learning a new system, this is a good start. I will also say don’t skip the short adventures in other settings between seasons. The Stars are Fire two-shots in particular are fantastic, cohesive stories. Explorers Wanted is just excellent all around, I highly recommend it.
Acolyte of the BSoT and Scorp Puppeteer groupie
I have yet to crack open the Numeneran Tomes and caravan myself, but the world this legendary troupe treads inspires Bagginses like me to set forth. I expect the baseline of the Ninth World setting to be at least a shade of Daniel’s twisted, it’s only right!
I love listening to this podcast:
- This is a collection of story-tellers who are firstly deep friends and secondly goofballs who are maestros in their own right, which leads to podcast gold
- Community builders who are always shouting out other Creatives and other things outside of RPG that help me touch grass with their “Player Intrusions,” I have at least a couple Tier up at this point!
- I look forward after each episode close for Daniel’s encouraging word to nay-sayers and non-review givers. I finally broke after telling the tiny mouse in my pocket my failure to leave a review 20+ episodes later.
- Nix, Cha Cha, Dilli, every single NPC , and the world-building of this group inspire me to become a better GM, player, and human.
- I’m listening in 2023 and their processing through Quarantine is a vibe in and of itself. Dark times but there were others banding together and carrying through together. It’s weird nostalgia, in the sense that in future history books podcasts like this could fill a paragraph with ways that humans got through such an historical period.
- If you enjoy laughing as well as rich character development and a knack for adventure… listen the synth is only pulsating and phasing a little nothing to worry about I mean what?
Great fun story!!
I found this podcast looking for a cypher supers game and really enjoyed it! So I started listening from episode 1 and the storytelling, world building, puppets, and scorps are all awesome!! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a good real play podcast, especially if you enjoy Numenera and the 9th world!
