Welcome to Extra Nos Academy. The phrase Extra Nos is a Latin phrase that means, "outside of us." This podcast will function as an outlet for unpacking ancient Christianity as preserved through Lutheran thought. I will address matters of culture, scripture, theology, and the Book of Concord. Extra Nos Academy is vehemently committed to proclaiming the sweet reality that salvation comes extra nos, outside of us. God Himself delivers His saving grace to us in Word and Sacrament. We can now rest in the completed work of Jesus. Selah. ExtraNosAcademy.com

Look to God's Word However He Says To (The Lord's Supper)
Welcome back! This is Season 3, episode 1A. As promised, this is one the short talks that will supplement each episode. Let's turn our attention to Numbers 21:4-9 and see God's instruction to look to His word to receive life. Although, this passage is not a Sacramental one, it helps us understand how to receive the Sacraments. God's visible word. We look to His word of promise however He says to. Enjoy!

The Lord's Supper: More than A Memory
We! Are! Back! Happy New Year!!! Welcome to season 3!!! In episode one we revisit the book, Free to Be: A Handbook to Luther's Small Catechism. The subject at hand is the Lord's Supper. The prevailing view is that the Sacrament of the Altar is memorial or symbolic in nature. Yet, biblically and according to church history, Christ is bodily present, in, with, and under the bread and wine. He promises to never leave us nor forsake us. He promises to forgive us of our sin. According to Matthew 26:26, He keeps those promises at the Lord's Table, bodily. "Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." What an amazing promise. Such a comfort!

Fantastic Teaching
I’ve listened to Flame for over a decade, solid theology, powerful presentation of Biblical truth. Listened to his newest CD, found a few videos online, and then realized he’d started a podcast. Awesome dude, keep up the great work! To my fellow listeners, strongly recommend a listen!
Great Systematic Teaching!
This is Flame at his best. High level teaching in power and grace. Thank you!
Challenging but respectful
There is so much theological arguement out there that is just yelling and disrespectful. People trying to pick a fight for ratings or because it is the only way they know to defend their ideas. Flame does a great job of encouraging us to look at our preconcieved ideas and challenge them with scripture. And he does it in a way that says he disagrees with some of the assumptions of American Christianity, while still respecting and loving those he disagrees with. Something that is so lacking in our modern discussions.
