Seemingly slacking more each week.
I understand the interviewer is a student, and this is student media, but it feels like essentially just a platformer. There are quite a few great left leaning podcasts in the triangle, but this one falls short of any substantial investigative rigor. It’s “bring on a random idealist each week and not question them, push them to defend their believes, or use any pragmatic discovery” every episode.
While I’m leaving this review after anarchist episode, it’s much less that episode (again just an idealist without much substance) and so much more the Wanda Gilbert Coker episode. I’m truly all for bringing on a wide variety of guests, and don’t think there is any one person who shouldn’t have been interviewed, just wish there was any amount of interviewing, instead of just “so give us your pitch” and “wow that sounds great.”
The Gilbert-Coker episode wasn’t even unchecked leftism as much as it was unchecked nimbyism. Slandering a ton of folks, and multiple conspiracies thrown and there and just left as fact by the interviewer, very frustrating to hear a shallow podcast that couldn’t even stand up for the HBCU.
Some good recent episodes on Skate Raleigh and green spaces, but maybe because they were more apolitical? Bring on everyone you’d like! But at least bring in the “wouldn’t some people say” and to have them face detractors.
