Hidden Movie Club is like a book club but for movies! We are on a mission to not let the cinema experience die an awful death by encouraging our audience to go see the movies in a theater first, and then join our discussion afterwards. That's why we like to see which anniversary re-releases are happening with older films! "They don't make 'em like they used to" is absolutely true when it comes to the filmmaking process, so we love to highlight what it took to make such a film "back in the day." We want to discover old movies that are new to us, so if there isn't a re-release coming out in time for our next podcast, we decide on another classic to discuss. So thank you for tuning in!     While we haven't yet focused on a Steven Spielberg directed film, we are at least getting around to a film produced by him! So there's that! 😂 Join us on this journey through the bowels and biological caverns of the human body in the 80s classic Innerspace! It will be like watching it for the first time, since we collectively have little memory of this film - only glimpses. So sit back and enjoy the show!

    SE7EN - HMC Double Take Ep 5

    Having discussed Fight Club in last week's After the Credits episode, we thought it would only be wise to follow that up with SE7EN, David Fincher's earlier dark & brooding 90s classic starring Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt. And yet again, Derek and I were floored by the set design, the realism of the aftermath of each crime scene, the brilliant performances, dark yet stunning cinematography...just a work of art, really. So sit back and enjoy our breakdown of this crime drama. Woot!

    Fight Club - HMC After the Credits Ep 8

    That David Fincher, I tell ya...he sure knows how to craft a piece of art and call it "cinema." But even then, this almost feels like the least David Fincher film, yet has Fincher written all over it at the same time? How is this possible?! Well, let your curiosity lead you into this week's episode while Derek and I discuss this 90s classic starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton.     Gladiator - HMC Double Take Ep 4

    To coincide with our coverage of Ben-Hur, we chose another revenge flick from the year 2000, but this time with a whole lot less Jesus involved (none, in fact...Jesus isn't even mentioned). That's right, Cinemaniacs! Derek and I watched Gladiator and we got stuff to say about it! How much of it was inspired by Ben-Hur? Quite a lot, it seems! So sit back, relax and let us speak into your ear holes about this modern classic from director Ridley Scott.

    Ben-Hur - HMC After the Credits Ep 7

    The epic revenge story that also happens to take place during the story of Christ, Ben-Hur is up for discussion in this episode of Hidden Movie Club: After the Credits! We've done a lot of 90s and 80s flicks so far, so going all the way back to 1959 was...interesting! Immediately it was apparent that we were in a different era of cinema when the film starts off with a 6+ minute overture. Wow! So buckle up, folks! This epic ride is about to begin!

    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) - HMC Double Take Ep 3

    Cowabunga! The first installment of TMNT just had to be discussed after we chatted about the 35th anniversary of The Secret of the Ooze, right? You betcha! So Derek and I did just that. And boy was it night-and-day compared to the sludge that was The Ooze. Yikes! So check out Derek and I gushing over why TMNT still holds up after all these years!
