Breaking My Own F*****g Rules: Rambling On

Are you ready to ramble?!  Straight out of the gate, you got a reference to Star Trek red shirts…and it spirals out from there. This episode is following up to the first episode (prior to kicking off Season 5) with my cohost, No. 1 Child, and breaking my own rules for editing. It didn’t yield what we thought it would, so…we cover a lot of things: television, movies*, music, actors, artists, AI, ChatGPT. So it’s a rambling episode, put it on the background and feel free to laugh at us or with us! *The movie that the music video by Annie Lennox “Walking On Broken Glass” was inspired by the movie, “Dangerous Liaisons” with Glen Close and John Malkovich. Not Amadeus as discussed in this episode. Support the show Want more sweary goodness? There's now the availability of Premium Subscription for $3 a month! The Sweary Therapist's Favorite episode #4: Persistence, Trust, and Boundaries: Using Your Voice

I've chosen five of my favorite episodes (out of so many!) to share with listeners. This is the fourth one that brought one of my favorite people together with me to chat about things we find important. * * * I have one of my favorite people, Veronica Green, chatting with me.  As with most of the people that I know, and definitely among my friends group, she is incredibly passionate about service to/for/with others. And this means for her, using her voice to advocate for those who are unable to speak up and advocate for themselves - her students. We cover everything from how we first met, to Veronica's adventures in teaching, people trying to find the meaning of their human existence, to her new podcast.  We get sweary, we laugh a lot, and at the end of the episode, curse motorcycles interrupting our discussions. Veronica Green is a Midwest Mama with a K-12 license in ESL (English as a Second Language) in the state of Minnesota. Bilingual in Spanish and a language nerd at heart, she holds a Master’s in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and a Master’s in Conflict Resolution. She has a background in case management, business, music, and has homemade soup and baked goods game. Veronica is the host and producer of her brand new podcast focusing on student and teacher advocacy called “Use Your Teacher Voice.” She lives in St. Paul with her partner, two daughters, old puppy, young kitty, trees and garden. * * * Support the show Want more sweary goodness? The Sweary Therapist's Favorite Episode #2: Shattering Glass Coffins: Living The Genuine Life

I've chosen five of my favorite episodes (out of so many!) to share with listeners. This is the second one that brought a colleague and I in touch with one another to become friends. * * *  I was incredibly fortunate that my guest, Bhavna Raithatha had time on her day off to sit and chat with me for this episode. Bhavna is a force of nature: teaching, speaking, volunteering. She's got an incredible survival journey through her life of multiple traumas and experienced racism since she was a young girl, and she's using her voice to advocate and educate folx. And even if my power messed up a chunk of the chat with Bhavna, there's so much of her journey she tells that I feel gives yet another perspective of a lived experience. PLEASE NOTE: We discuss the following topics that may be distressing to listeners - various trauma experiences, stalking and violence, loss, abuse, medical issues, suicide/suicidal ideation, racism. More info on Bhavna: Bhavna Raithatha BSc, MSc, MBACP (Accred) is a Psychotherapist, Supervisor, Speaker, Coach, Critical Debriefer & Trainer, and Pride 365 Champion. The Sweary Therapist's Favorite Episode #1: The Food Episode! Bread, Chocolate and Cheese

I've chosen five of my favorite episodes (out of so many!) to share with listeners. This is the first one that came to mind as I've lost my ability to taste chocolate after a long bout with Covid in 2023. It's still a delight of an episode to listen to. * * * This episode is just a lovely chat and ramble with the spouse of one of my favorite people. Sebastian Polhill digs in with me about some of the subjects I could talk for ages about: world history, Roman history, development of society and language, and most important, food.  Grab a snack and your favored beverage, y'all. You're going to be peckish by the end of this episode! * * * More about Sebastian: Sebastian was born and raised in a single-parent family - Mum and 3 brothers. After doing reasonably well at school and then university he joined the British Army as an Education Officer, reaching the rank of Major over a 17 year career. This was followed by his second career as a High School Teacher of Mathematics, teaching at a variety of schools in both the UK and the USA.  He also took a 4-year sabbatical in the middle of this time to work in the construction industry as everything from labourer to site manager while he took a second bachelor's degree in Construction Management.  Sebastian moved to the USA in order to marry his girlfriend of three years (refers to their relationship, not his girlfriend's age!) four-and-a-half years ago, following a two-year ordeal with the US Immigration Services, during which he was deported back to the UK twice!  He's now working in his retirement gig, and living very happily back in the UK with his wife, Lynn, and her son, Brody.
