    Acts 22: Paul Tells His Story

    Alongside our Sunday teachings, we’re keeping things simple. We’ll be reading through the book of Acts, featuring the many unique voices of the ClearView Church congregation. Each week, we’ll release two chapters, followed by a few reflection questions. In this  episode, you’ll hear a brief introduction from Pastor Phil, followed by a reading of Acts 22 and some reflection questions from one of the youth in our congregation. Read along with the following reflection: As you listened to this chapter, was there a word or phrase that captured your attention? Take a moment to reflect on Paul's story. He was certain he was serving God, yet his encounter with Jesus changed everything. The one who persecuted followers of Jesus became one of His most devoted witnesses. What does this passage reveal about who God is? Perhaps you noticed God's grace. God pursued Paul when he was far from Him. God opened his eyes, gave him a new purpose, and invited him into His mission. Perhaps you noticed God's calling. Paul was not only saved from something; he was saved for something. God had a purpose for his life and sent him to bear witness to what he had seen and heard. As you reflect on this chapter, consider your own story. How has God been at work in your life? What difference has Jesus made in who you are becoming? Is there a part of your story that God may be inviting you to share with someone else? Linger over these questions and bring your thoughts to God. Is there anything you would like to ask Him? Pray your life to God and take a moment to rest in His presence.     Acts 21: Paul Heads to Jerusalem

    Alongside our Sunday teachings, we’re keeping things simple. We’ll be reading through the book of Acts, featuring the many unique voices of the ClearView Church congregation. Each week, we’ll release two chapters, followed by a few reflection questions. In this  episode, you’ll hear a brief introduction from Pastor Phil, followed by a reading of Acts 21 and some reflection questions from a member of our congregation. Read along with the following reflection: This chapter is remarkable. There is this juxtaposition of praise to God for the thousands who have believed and then a riot breaks out and the chapter ends with Paul’s arrest. What might God be saying to us through these excerpts from Acts? Did you notice who God uses to protect Paul? Not fellow believers, and definitely not his former Jewish tribe - but Roman officials - the very people we might expect to oppose him and the advancing gospel message. What might this tell us about God's sovereignty and the unexpected ways He works? As you listened to the chapter, what was the Holy Spirit drawing your attention to?  Perhaps there were other ideas, words, or phrases that captured your attention. Linger over them and ask God any questions you may have.  Pray your life to God and take a moment to rest in His presence.     Acts 20: Spiritual Friendship

    Acts 18: Tentmakers and Truth-Seekers

    Alongside our Sunday teachings, we’re keeping things simple. We’ll be reading through the book of Acts, featuring the many unique voices of the ClearView Church congregation. Each week, we’ll release two chapters, followed by a few reflection questions. In this  episode, you’ll hear a brief introduction from Pastor Phil, followed by a reading of Acts 18 and some reflection questions from a ClearView staff member. Read along with the following reflection: It's interesting to note that Paul was a tentmaker. So, not only was he a former Pharisee; a prominent and influential religious leader who became a follower of Jesus, but he also worked with his hands to earn a living. How might God use you to share the love and hope of Jesus through your work, relationships, and daily interactions, just as He used Paul? I also noticed that Acts 18 mentions several others who joined Paul in sharing the good news of Jesus: Aquila and Priscilla, Silas and Timothy, and Apollos. Following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey. Sometimes we can feel alone in our faith at work, at school, or in our neighbourhoods. Yet God often places other believers around us—people we may not even realize share our desire to follow Jesus and make Him known. Have you experienced encouragement from another believer when you needed it most? As you pray today, ask God to open your eyes to others who are following Jesus in your workplace, neighbourhood, or community. Ask Him to show you how you might encourage one another and serve together. Take a moment to reflect on today's passage. What words, phrases, or people stood out to you? What might God be inviting you to notice, learn, or do? Respond to Him in prayer, and rest for a moment in His presence. What do you notice about the way Paul introduces the Athenians to the idea of Jesus?  In verses 24-29 Paul presents the story of God. How did those who heard it respond? How might you tell the good news story of Jesus? Meditate on what has connected with your heart or mind…pray to God about what has moved you today. Turn your thoughts to God and enjoy being with him.     Acts 16: Paul and Silas in Prison

Read along with the following reflection: As you heard today’s passage, what word or phrase did the Holy Spirit draw your attention to?  What details from the story stirred within you? I keep thinking about Paul and Silas’ words, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.” What impact did those words have on the early church?  How have they shaped the universal church of Jesus Christ?  What do they mean for you? Are they comforting? Challenging? Reassuring? Disturbing? Perhaps there were other ideas or phrases that captured your attention. Linger over them and ask God any questions you may have.  Pray your life to God and take a moment to rest in God’s presence.     Acts 15: The Council at Jerusalem

In this  episode, you’ll hear a brief introduction from Pastor Phil, followed by a reading of Acts 15 and some reflection questions from a member of our congregation. Read along with the following reflection: Traditions, customs, they’re a tough thing to let go of. When you hear today’s passage, what is the Holy Spirit drawing your attention to?  Over the centuries, the church has gathered to discern and wrestle with interpretation of many different things. What do you notice about the process that the early apostles and elders engaged with? It takes work to get to a statement like the one in verse 28: “It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us…” How is this good news? To the original hearers? To the church of all time? To you and to me? Slowly repeat this phrase, “It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us…” Pray your thoughts, desires, needs and feelings from your meditation.
