Acts 10: Cornelius Calls for Peter

Alongside our Sunday teachings, we’re keeping things simple. We’ll be reading through the book of Acts, featuring the many unique voices of the ClearView Church congregation. Each week, we’ll release two chapters, followed by a few reflection questions. In this  episode, you’ll hear a brief introduction from Pastor Phil, followed by a reading of Acts 10 and some reflection questions from some children in our congregation. Read along with our reflection questions: As you reflect on this story, what stands out to you? Are there any words or phrases that seem to catch your attention? Where might the Holy Spirit be gently drawing you in? How do you imagine Cornelius and his household felt when they heard Peter say that God shows no favoritism, but welcomes people from every nation? What might that have meant in that moment? How has that truth shaped the Church over time? And what might it mean for you today? Peter speaks about Jesus—how He was anointed with the Holy Spirit and power, how He went about doing good and bringing healing, and how all who believe in Him receive forgiveness of sins. As you sit with these words, what stands out to you? What draws your attention or stirs something in your heart? Take a moment to bring your reflections before the Lord. What would you like to say to Him? What might He want to show you? Pray with openness and trust, knowing He hears you and welcomes you. Acts 7: The Story of Stephen

Alongside our Sunday teachings, we’re keeping things simple. We’ll be reading through the book of Acts, featuring the many unique voices of the ClearView Church congregation. Each week, we’ll release two chapters, followed by a few reflection questions. In this  episode, you’ll hear a brief introduction from Pastor Phil, followed by a reading of Acts 7 and some reflection questions from a member of our congregation. Read along with our reflection questions: This was a lengthy chapter which sadly ends with the stoning of Stephen. What did the Holy Spirit draw your attention to? Was there an element of the story that you wondered about or that resonated with you? After being falsely accused, Stephen reflects on Israel’s history, showing how God’s people often resisted His message and His messengers—even rejecting Jesus, the Messiah. Where do you notice this pattern of resistance or rejection in the life of the Church over time? And more personally, where might you see that same pattern in your own life? Stephen’s words point us to a few important truths: God has been at work throughout historyHe is not confined to a place or buildingJesus death was just one more example of Israel’s rebellion and rejection of God; repeatedly, people have struggled to receive what He is doingAs you reflect on this, what stands out to you? Take a moment to talk with God about what you’ve heard - and rest in His presence. Faith Matters is a ministry of Clearview Church, Oakville, On. https://clearviewchurch.com/

Acts 4: Peter and John Before the Sanhedrin

Alongside our Sunday teachings, we’re keeping things simple. We’ll be reading through the book of Acts, featuring the many unique voices of the ClearView Church congregation. Each week, we’ll release two chapters, followed by a few reflection questions. In this  episode, you’ll hear a brief introduction from Pastor Phil, followed by a reading of Acts 4 and some reflection questions from a member of our congregation. Follow along with these reflection questions: As you reflect on this story, how has God’s Word been stirring in you? What has especially connected with your heart or stayed on your mind? Peter and John said to the Sanhedrin, “We cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” Take a few minutes and think about the life of Jesus; review the stories of Jesus in the gospels. What have the disciples witnessed Jesus do during his three years of ministry on earth?  Aside from the powerful teaching, miraculous healing, profound deliverance, what did they just witness that has changed them forever and has shaped the church for all time? “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.”What do you notice or feel as you hear this today? What might it mean for you personally? (repeat quote). And at the center of it all - how is Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection good news for you today?
