Faking Lit

Probably the worst literature/book podcast I’ve ever listened to (and there are some really bad ones out there). Out of the roughly hour and a half episode, maybe (generously) about 10 minutes of it was related to the book in question. The rest of the episode was littered with juvenile and vapid tangents in which the hosts try their hand at bits of comedy and observational humor, and sadly, falling incredibly short of anything remotely clever or humorous. The few minutes they spent talking about the book were just as insanely banal and vapid as their pitiful attempts at comedy as well. The analysis and observations about the book were on the level of maybe a college Freshman (more likely a High School Junior). They also had a “guest host” they called Edward Pomblebee (whom I surmise was most likely one of their regular hosts playing at being mentally handicapped). Not entirely sure what that was about, or if they think making cheap jabs at the mentally disabled is funny, but I certainly didn’t find anything humorous about this show at all. Really unfortunate way to spend my commute.

Very little substance here. Most of the podcast consists of the hosts giggling at themselves and skimming the actual work at which they’re reviewing. Don’t waste your time

I wanted to listen to a podcast discussing The Brothers Karamazov, and I foolishly started this at the beginning of a bike ride. It was just terrible. They went on stupid tangents, and talking about things that they thought were funny, but were not in the least. The few things that they did say about the book made it obvious that they had no idea what they were talking about. The philosophical statements made by the podcasters were the most banal, sophomoric, idiotic statements imaginable. (That gives sophomores a bad name.) Do not waste you time with this - if they think they are funny, they are wrong.
