Hunger for Erotic Thrillers Satisfied

Fatal Attractions was a recent podcast discovery and I'm totally hooked. As a someone who loves film and especially enjoys erotic thrillers, it's been an absolute pleasure to dig in and binge listen to this fine group of co-hosts provide insightful analysis, honest criticism, and engaging discussion on these genre films.

Better than most movie pods

I kind of wish they expanded their genres, because I would take their podcast over probably 8 out of 10 I’ve listened to. No corny humor (for that alone it deserves 5 stars), good information, they don’t really talk over one another, and overall just a mature show. I’m only giving it 4 stars because I’m only a fan of a few movies in this genre, so it’s not the best fit for me. But compared to the other trash I’ve explored in the world of movie review podcasts, this one is absolutely a great fit for what I’m looking for in regards to style.

Love Paul but Wish There Was Another Female Voice on the Show…

For the most part I love the podcast and especially the genre, but Amelie frustrates me as the only female voice on the podcast. All of them (with the exception of Paul) routinely look at these movies with the politics correctness lens of today rather than try to see the movie as it fit into the era in which it was made. I was actually yelling back at the podcast during “The Big Easy” episode when Amelie insisted that Ellen Barkin’s character was forced into the sex that took place in the scene that widely regarded to be one of the hottest on film. I think the podcast could improve if many of the hosts realized that a hallmark of the erotic thriller/film noir genre is often that one of the characters is dealing with a “moral dilemma” when it comes to the “erotic” part of the plot and that sometimes gets played as needing to be a bit coerced into the sexual relationship; when it’s the female character in that scenario, it doesn’t automatically mean that it’s a “MeToo” moment. What’s more, unless they’re going to tweak the angle of the podcast, I’d rather they judge the podcast by the tropes of the erotic thriller genre rather than injecting modern day wokeness.
