Episode 1: Leaving Sin To Live Better

Send us a text What if the first step back to joy is admitting where you drifted off mission? We open 2 Samuel 11–12 and get uncomfortably honest about David’s choices, the slow slide from comfort to compromise, and why “no one will know” is the most expensive lie you can buy. This isn’t theory. We map the small steps—remaining where God didn’t call, seeing what we shouldn’t entertain, inquiring when we should flee, covering what we must confess—and we name their modern forms in our phones, calendars, entertainment, and church cultures. Together with Pastor James Wilson and Jenny Highsmith, we get practical and hopeful. You’ll hear real safeguards that reshape desire: daily Scripture that arms the mind, honest accountability that invites visibility, boundaries that protect marriages, and a mission check from Matthew 28 that helps both believers and churches stay focused on making disciples, baptizing, teaching the Word, and living in Jesus’ presence. We also explore the tension around Bathsheba—power, choice, fear of consequences—and how the fear of God reorders every decision. Most of all, we contrast David and Jesus: a good king who fell, and the faithful King who never does. Nathan’s parable reminds us that God aims for conviction, not humiliation. Confession isn’t cheap grace; it’s the door Christ opened with his blood. When we say, “I have sinned against the Lord,” God is faithful and just to forgive and to cleanse. Repentance isn’t perfection; it’s a new direction—falling less, getting up quicker, and becoming interruptible by the Spirit. If you’re tired of hiding, if your church feels like a cruise ship instead of a battleship, or if you’ve mistaken happiness for holiness, this conversation will call you back to freedom and purpose. If this helped you take a step toward the light, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs courage, and leave a review to help others find the show. What step of repentance or safeguard are you choosing today? Thanks for listening! Find us on Instagram or visit our Website.

The Whole Story about the Holy Spirit | John 14:12; Genesis 1:2; Ezekiel 36:26-27; Mark 1:10; Matthew 28:19-20; Revelation 22:1-3; Revelation 22:17

Send us a text The Holy Spirit isn't just a mysterious force or an afterthought in Christian theology—He's been actively working since before creation, empowering believers throughout history, and will continue His work into eternity. This powerful message traces the complete story of the Holy Spirit from Genesis to Revelation, revealing how understanding this divine narrative transforms our own life stories. When we feel formless, empty, or surrounded by darkness, the Holy Spirit—who hovered over the waters at creation—wants to shape us, fill us, and illuminate our path. Throughout the Old Testament, we see glimpses of the Spirit's work as He empowered specific individuals for specific tasks, pointing toward a future where He would indwell every believer. Jesus Himself modeled complete dependence on the Holy Spirit. Despite being fully God, Christ chose to live His ministry through the Spirit's power—casting out demons, performing miracles, and ultimately offering Himself as a sacrifice "through the eternal Spirit." This profound example challenges us to stop living by our limited human spirit and instead surrender to the unlimited Holy Spirit. The New Testament reveals how God has "given the power to the people" through His Spirit, commissioning ordinary believers to make disciples and continue Jesus' mission. This democratization of spiritual power means you don't need special credentials or training to be used by God—you simply need to be filled with His Spirit. Most profoundly, the Spirit's story culminates in eternity, where believers will experience His unhindered presence like a crystal-clear river flowing from God's throne. In heaven, we'll finally be fully fruitful, completely healed, and perfectly worshipful because we'll be perfectly filled with the Spirit. Ready to experience greater things? The Holy Spirit is calling you to align your story with God's story, emptying yourself so you can be filled with Him. Your human spirit isn't enough—you were created for God's Holy Spirit to empower you for a life beyond anything you could accomplish on your own. Thanks for listening! The Baptism of the Holy Spirit | John 14:12 · Galatians 5:16 · Romans 8:14 · Ephesians 5:18 · 1 Corinthians 12:13

Send us a text What if the greatest power in the universe wasn't just available to you, but actually lived within you? This transformative message kicks off our "Greater Things" series with a profound exploration of the Holy Spirit—not as some mysterious force or impersonal power, but as the fully divine person of God who indwells every believer. Pastor Chip challenges the common misconception of treating the Holy Spirit as the "third wheel" of the Trinity, revealing instead how God's Spirit empowers supernatural living that goes beyond what we could accomplish on our own. Through a compelling breakdown of four ways to experience the Spirit more deeply, he unpacks a spiritual progression that starts with baptism by the Spirit at salvation and culminates in walking by the Spirit daily. The teaching introduces key Greek terms that illuminate what it means to be Spirit-filled: "peripeteo" (walking throughout life making spiritual progress), "ago" (being guided and directed), and "plerao" (continually being filled to overflow). Using relatable illustrations—from a toddler needing guidance on wilderness hikes to a backyard splash pad that both fills and overflows—he demonstrates why "God inside you is better than God beside you." Most powerfully, this message reframes our understanding of spiritual living. Instead of asking how much of the Spirit we have, perhaps we should ask how much of us the Spirit has. The Holy Spirit functions as our divine GPS, guiding us through life's complexities when no one else has ever lived our unique journey before. Through worship, prayer, community, and Scripture engagement, we position ourselves for continual filling that not only transforms us but overflows to impact others. Ready to experience the "greater things" Jesus promised? Discover how the baptism, filling, leading, and walking of the Spirit can revolutionize your life and empower you for kingdom impact beyond what you've imagined possible. Thanks for listening! 3 Qualities Godly Womanhood Requires | Ruth 3:1-18

Send us a text Families are messy—every single one of them. Yet within those messes, God works powerfully to reveal His character and reshape ours. Drawing from Ruth chapter 3, this message explores three essential qualities of godly womanhood that actually apply to everyone seeking to follow Jesus faithfully. The modern world bombards us with conflicting messages about who we should be and how we should live. With approximately 265 different voices reaching us daily through social media, websites, and other channels, how do we discern which voice to follow? Ruth shows us by example as she listens to godly counsel from Naomi. Though the specific advice may seem culturally strange to us today, the principle remains: we need godly community to provide godly perspective. As Proverbs reminds us, "wisdom is found in a multitude of counselors." Character defines us far more than appearance or circumstance. When Ruth approaches Boaz at the threshing floor, both demonstrate remarkable godliness in what could have been a compromising situation. Boaz immediately recognizes Ruth as a "worthy woman"—using the same Hebrew word (gabor) that described his own character. This mirrors Proverbs 31:30: "Charm is deceitful, beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." When life bumps into us unexpectedly, what spills out reveals what's truly inside us. Perhaps most challenging in our instant-gratification culture is waiting with godly patience. The Hebrew concept of waiting doesn't mean passive thumb-twiddling but active abiding—continuing in worship and God's Word while awaiting His timing. Through powerful personal testimony we're reminded that "God is always doing 10,000 things in your life, and you may be aware of three of them." Whether single, dating, married, or any other relationship status, these principles apply universally: seek godly counsel through community, develop godly character through relationship with Jesus, and practice godly patience while trusting His work behind the scenes. Your greatest blessing isn't specific outcomes but God Himself, working to reveal His glory in every messy circumstance. Thanks for listening! Find us on Instagram or visit our Website.

4 Godly Ways Men Must Lead | Ruth 2:1-20

Send us a text The power of godly male leadership cannot be overstated. In this compelling exploration of Ruth chapter 2, we uncover four essential qualities that transform men into the leaders God designed them to be—and how these qualities dramatically impact families, churches, and communities. At the heart of this message stands Boaz, a man of extraordinary character living in one of history's most corrupt periods. While everyone around him "did what was right in their own eyes," Boaz remained steadfast in his commitment to God's standards. His example serves as a powerful reminder that regardless of cultural pressures, men can choose the higher path of godliness—a choice that creates ripple effects far beyond their immediate circle. What makes Boaz's example so relevant today? His approach to Ruth reveals a beautiful balance of strength and tenderness, protection without possession, provision without strings attached, and redemption rooted in integrity. When men prioritize character development, create safe spaces for those they love, provide generously from their best rather than their leftovers, and participate in God's redemptive work, transformation happens. Research consistently shows that when men love their wives, disciple their children, and immerse themselves in Scripture, families flourish. Yet achieving this isn't about perfection—it's about persistent growth through relationship with Jesus. The only perfect man was Christ himself, who gives us both the model and the means to become the men our families need. Whether you're a single man preparing for future relationships, a husband seeking to strengthen your marriage, or a woman wanting to recognize godly leadership qualities, this message offers practical wisdom for navigating today's challenging landscape. The journey to becoming a man of character, protection, provision, and redemption begins with a single step toward Jesus, who specializes in blessing our messes. Thanks for listening! What God Can Do Within Your Family | Ruth 1:1-22

Send us a text Your family is a mess. My family is a mess. We're all a mess in some way. The restaurant disaster with my kids running wild? Just the latest evidence that family life rarely goes according to plan. But what if these messy moments aren't just obstacles to overcome—what if they're precisely where God wants to show up? In this kickoff to our "Bless This Mess" series, we dive into the book of Ruth—the soap opera of the Bible—where family dysfunction meets divine redemption. Ruth's story unfolds during Israel's darkest period, when "everyone did what was right in their own eyes." Elimelech, whose name ironically means "my God is king," makes the catastrophic decision to move his family from Bethlehem to Moab during a famine. Rather than trusting God, he seeks provision in a pagan land where people worship through child sacrifice. Sound familiar? It's like saying, "God's not providing, so I'll handle this myself." The consequences are devastating. Death, grief, and bitterness follow. Yet in this mess emerges Ruth's beautiful declaration of faith: "Your people shall be my people, and your God shall be my God." Her loyalty to Naomi mirrors how we should cling to Jesus, who never stops clinging to us even in our worst moments. When facing family crises—whether marriage conflicts, parenting struggles, addiction, betrayal, or loss—we have a choice between bitterness or belief. Bitterness says, "This happened; life will never be good again." Belief says, "This happened, and it was terrible, but I believe God still has something for me." The story culminates with their arrival in Bethlehem at harvest time, signaling new beginnings that eventually lead to the birth of King David's grandfather and ultimately, Jesus himself. Whatever mess you're facing today, remember: Jesus doesn't step around your mess—He steps right into the middle of it. Cast your anxieties on Him, for He cares for you. Subscribe to join us as we discover how God blesses our messes for the story of Jesus's glory in our lives. Thanks for listening! Find us on Instagram or visit our Website.

When Your Strength Falls Short | Judges 13-16

Send us a text Have you ever confidently thought "I've got this" only to discover you're completely out of your depth? When the bike chain falls off, the GPS would've been better, or your strength simply fails you - these moments of humility reveal a profound spiritual truth. Looking at the infamous story of Samson from the book of Judges, we discover a biblical superhero who possessed extraordinary physical strength but catastrophic character weaknesses. Despite being miraculously conceived and set apart for God's purpose, Samson repeatedly chose his own desires over divine direction. His life follows the tragic cycle we see throughout Judges: idolatry leads to oppression, which eventually leads to crying out for deliverance. What makes Samson's story so compelling is how it foreshadows Jesus in reverse - everywhere Samson failed, Jesus fulfilled perfectly. Where Samson used riddles to deceive, Jesus used parables to teach. Where Samson pursued relationships for self-gratification, Jesus sacrificed himself for his bride. Where Samson used God's power for personal pleasure, Jesus channeled divine strength for others' salvation. Both were ultimately humiliated and killed, but with profoundly different attitudes and outcomes. The message rings clear: our human strength will always fall short, but Jesus stands strong. This isn't about mustering more personal willpower or developing greater self-confidence. It's about recognizing that the foundation matters more than the feeling. As the sermon illustrates, a person with enormous confidence standing on thin ice faces certain disaster, while someone with tentative faith standing on solid ground remains secure. Are you trying to navigate life's challenges through your own limited strength? Take the leap of faith to build your life on the only foundation that never crumbles. Because when your strength inevitably falls short, Jesus never will. Thanks for listening! Find us on Instagram or visit our Website.
