Fearless Films Podcast is a weekly show where we walk through horror movies, breaking down the beats, discussing the lore and interesting trivia of all the best (and worst) in the horror movie genre. The show started as Pete, the horror buff, explaining the plots of horror movies to Kevin, the scaredy cat, who hates being scared but is intrigued by these modern mythologies.Kevin eventually retired from the podcast, but the show goes on! Pete is now joined by Sarah, who also loves horror movies, and they continue the tradition of explaining the scariest stories to all the scaredy cats out there, so they don't have to watch the movies.

    234 - The Nun (2005)

    Send us Fan Mail Wait a second. Didn't we already cover a movie called The Nun, about an evil spirit in a habit that kills people in Europe?? There is more than one movie with that premise!? And it's not even in the same franchise!?  That's right folks, this week we are not discussing anything related to the Conjuring Universe or any Blumhouse production. Pete is covering the early 2000's Spanish-produced but English-speaking "The Nun". The film follows a teen girl who discovers that the evil spirit of a nun that ran her mother's childhood boarding school has been unleashed and is picking off the now adult girls one by one. The teen girl must discover how to stop the Nun, and uncover the mystery of why the ghost wants her as its final victim! This movie choice was inspired by Pete's wife who saw this movie randomly in her youth, and laughingly referred to it as "The Water Nun" because the evil spirit can only travel through bodies of water. These bodies mostly end up being toilets and sinks, making for an unintentionally hilarious set of jump scares. Join us as we discuss the perils of air travel in a horror movie, why you should always carry a spear gun with you, and the importance of a basic understanding of physics when writing your screenplay. So grab some holy water, make a secret pact with your friends, and as always: don't get too scared!

    233 - Before I Wake

    Send us Fan Mail This week, we've got another Mike Flanagan classic. It is 2016's, Before I Wake! Sarah takes us through this modern fantasy tale about a grieving couple who adopts a young boy with a tragic past. Soon, the boys dreams begin manifesting into beautiful illusions in the waking world. However, things take a dark turn when the dreams become nightmares. No one is safe, sleeping or awake, from the horrifying Canker Man, a monster from the boy's imagination that threatens all their lives. Join us as we discuss the true meaning of a fairy tale ending, the importance of a good title, and how to avoid getting "butterflied". So tuck yourself in, count some sheep, and as always: don't get too scared!

    232 - Leprechaun Origins

    Send us Fan Mail Happy St. Patrick's Day, Fearless Fans!! What's better than another hilarious entry in the Leprechaun franchise? How about one where the titular character has no dialogue, no personality, and no magical powers?? Wait a second, that sounds terrible. This week, Pete walks us through the lowest rated film in the Leprechaun franchise (and that's saying something), Leprechaun Origins. Its a generic slasher about a group of college kids vacationing in Ireland when the locals betray them to a small, nondescript monster that really should not be as much of a problem as it presents. Join us as we discuss the importance of maintaining an iconic character, why you should never give up on your dreams for a relationship, and just how badly one film can butcher Irish mythology. So lock your doors, secure your gold, and as always: don't get too scared!

    231 - Bird Box

    Send us Fan Mail Who would have thought that A-Lister Sandra Bullock would star in a straight to streaming horror movie, and it would be seen as a successful move for her career!? This week, Sarah walks us through the Netflix gem that is 2018's Bird Box. When a global plague of formless entities that cause suicidal madness at mere sight kicks off the apocalypse, a pregnant woman finds shelter with a group of survivors. They must figure out how they are going to survive and gather supplies when walking around without a blindfold is a death sentence. Join us as we discuss the go-nowhere acting career of Machine Gun Kelly, the importance of team-building exercises, and why blind white-water rafting is an extreme sport that no one should pursue. What horrors could you stomach just to stay alive? Join us as we discuss cannibalism, consumerism, a cast full of "that guys", the music of Gorillaz, the Mexican-American war, and a grad-level examination and breakdown of manifest destiny and colonialism.
