The Boys Season 5 Episode 8 Review

We got all of our boys together as Chris, Derek and John chat all about the final episode of The Boys Season 5 Episode 8 Blood and Bone. We got the end of it all and wrap ups for all of our favourite character in brutal style and we chat about it all in our spoiler filled podcast. The Boys Finale Blood and Bone SynopsisHead Writer and Developed by - Eric Kripke Based on the comic series from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson Executive Producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Episode written by: Judalina Neira & David Reed Episode directed by: Phil Sgriccia Synopsis: After an emotional farewell to their fallen comrade Frenchie, The Boys need to press their attack on Homelander. Butcher uses Sister Sage to anger Kimiko to see if she can trigger her new power. The pressure works and Kimiko’s explosive power removes Sage’s abilities turning her into an average, stupid human...just like the Boys. Meanwhile at The Oval Office Homelander prepares to address the nation to proclaim himself the new god on Easter Sunday. With the countdown set, The Boys use their previous experience to infiltrate the White House. But Oh Father has planned for this eventuality and installed a Kill Box on their route through Kennedy’s smelly sex tunnels.  What he didn’t count on was new President Ashley Barrett having a change of heart. She, with encouragement from Back-Ashley, finds her inner strength and frees The Boys, sending them on their path to take out Homelander before making a run for it. On their route they encounter The Deep. Dejected after Homelander’s latest rejection he blames Annie for everything. She has a knockdown drag out fight with him and sends him flying into the ocean where the sea life gets their revenge, tearing The Deep apart. While MM and Hughie kill a gagged Oh Father, Billy Butcher and Kimiko take the fight to Homelander. With the help of Ryan, Billy restrains him while Kimiko, with a little help from Frenchie, unleashes her powers removing all abilities from all three of them. Realising he has no real power, the pathetic, weak, sniveling loser Homelander begs for his life on camera in front of the American people. But Billy’s crowbar unhinges his skull, putting an end to his tyranny once and for all. Subsequently, President Ashley is unanimously impeached and removed from office and Stan Edgar once again becomes Vought's interim CEO just as he promised MM he would. When Ryan rejects Billy Butcher’s idea of a happy family and his dog Terror dies, Butcher goes back to his original plan and heads to Vought Tower to release the virus. Hughie follows him and, realising there is no way to stop Billy, he pulls the trigger and kills him. With their plan complete The Boys disband, M.M. renews his marriage vows and takes in Ryan; Kimiko goes to France; and Hughie and Annie prepare to become parents to a baby girl who they name Robin. Hughie smiles as Annie flies off to continue using her powers to be the hero the world needs. Episode written by: Anslem Richardson Episode directed by: Sylvain White Synopsis: Empowered by V1, Homelander kills the president of the United States, dissolves the Seven, and prepares to reveal his divinity. But when he asks Soldier Boy to join him, his father tells him some Home (lander) truths. He just had a wet dream, there’s no way he’s a god. When Soldier Boy tells him he wants to leave, Homelander overpowers and knocks soldier boy out, placing him back into the cryostasis chamber.  The Deep, learning that the Seven is no more, becomes isolated and is approached by a familiar sounding hammerhead shark, Zander. All of the sea life is aware of his role in the pipeline disaster. He is warned that if he sets foot in any body of water ever again he will be killed.  Marie Moreau and Jordan Li from Godolkin University, uncover activity at Vought studios involving Oh Father. Butcher, Hughie, Annie and M.M. investigate the lead, and find out that Oh Father is doing some market research on the introduction of the new god Homelander with his most avid followers.  They are using the world’s best psychics to ensure the followers are true believers. But when most of the group are unconvinced by their new lord and saviours propaganda campaign Homelander orders they get the “VIP treatment”. As they start getting murdered at the hands of the animalistic supes She-line and Dogknott, Annie and MM save the non-believing former Homelanders and bring them to the Gen V crew for protection. Elsewhere at the studios, Butcher and Hughie are captured by Synapse, one of the psychics and a shape-shifter who takes on the form of Billy’s former partner Joe Kessler. Kessler explains to Hughie that if you stand in the way of Billy Butcher he’ll kill you without hesitation. While discussing this Synapse has learned The Boys plan and the whereabouts of their base from inside Butcher’s mind. He shares the information with Homelander and returns to finish off The Boys, but Hughie distracts Synapse, allowing Butcher to kill him so they can make their escape.  Meanwhile, back at the Boys base, Frenchie has been continuing his longstanding plan to recreate Soldier Boy's depowering ability in Kimiko using huge amounts of radiation. When he can’t solve the puzzle himself he finally convinces Sister Sage to use her superior intellect to stabilise the process. As they complete Kimiko’s final exposure to radiation, they are warned that Homelander has located the base. As he enters the Boys' base, Kimiko and Sage hide in a zinc lined vent hiding them from Homelander’s x-ray eyes, while Frenchie distracts him so he does not investigate the base too thoroughly and find Kimiko and Sister Sage. In retaliation, Homelander fatally wounds Frenchie. After leaving the base empty handed, Kimiko runs to help Frenchie who dies in her arms. Episode written by: Judalina Neira Episode directed by: Phil Sgriccia Synopsis: Firecracker is asked by her former reverend for help after his church is vandalized, because he won’t move to the teachings of the Democratic Church of America. When the church is later raided and the Pastor arrested, a troubled and torn Firecracker gives a defamatory news report about him.  Meanwhile, Black Noir struggles not only with his partnership with The Deep, but also with his identity as he tries to balance being in The Seven with his commitments to a local theater group. As tensions rise, The Deep kills the play director, Adam Bourke, a la Conger Eel as he reasserts his control over Black Noir.  At the Boys makeshift laboratory Frenchie continues to develop the virus while Mothers Milk searches for Bombsite and the remaining V1. After a close call between chocolate and his beloved dog Terror, Butcher finally agrees that he will allow Annie and Kimiko to take it when (if) they find it.  Back at Vought Tower Sister Sage warns Ashley that Homelander must not obtain V1. When Ashley asks what the angle is, Sister Sage says peace! More specifically her own peace and quiet with a book and no longer harassed by Homelander. To do this she is planning World War Supe to ensure humans and Supes ultimately kill each other. She needs back-Ashley’s help finding out Soldier Boy's plans and as a reward Bashley and Ashley will be allowed to join Sage in her bunker. In the basement, Homelander and Soldier Boy interrogate Stan Edgar, who points them to Mister Marathon, a former member of the Seven now residing in Los Angeles. During a pursuit, Marathon accidentally kills his celebrity friends running into them at every step of the way. Soldier Boy finally brings him to a halt with lots and lots of Daddy Puff’s baby oil and incapacitates him with a heavy dose of snap, crackle and pop of his breaking bones. After getting confirmation from Mister Marathon that Bombsight has V1, Homelander kills him.  Back at Vought Tower, after learning Firecracker has been sleeping with his father and also the nature of her post-coital chit chat and Firecracker’s doubts, Homelander asks her to pack her bags and go. Firecracker pleads with him for her to stay saying she is the only one that has ever loved him. As she pushes it too far Homelander makes her a permanent feature of Vought Tower as he kills her. Death by eagle wing, as he pins her head to the right wing of an all American bald eagle. Episode written by: Geoff Aull Episode directed by: Karen Gaviola Synopsis: Following his epiphany Homelander tasks Firecracker to present him as the one true god to the people. Needing help she involves Supes Worm, Ashley, her bankrupt evangelical husband, Oh Father and snarker PR lead, Courtney, to come up with a plan. The Boys, still without the virus, go to Fort Harmony to find V1, the virus resistant original version of the drug which gives Supes their powers.  There an airborne virus pits the team against each other with Hughie, Butcher, MM and Kimiko all at each other’s throats. Only Frenchie is immune due to his past drug abuse. When they reach the safe at Fort Harmony they find no remaining V1 vials and they suspect that the Supe Bombsight has recently taken all vials of the V1 that were there but don’t know why.  Homelander and Soldier Boy are also in search of the V1 at Fort Harmony. Homelander mocks him, saying he injected himself with V1 because he felt inferior to his brother; Soldier Boy locks Homelander in a chamber of enriched uranium to prevent him from getting V1, which he intends to destroy.  Frenchie finds the source of the toxoplasmosis and takes Soldier Boy to it, revealing it is Quinn, with whom he had a past. After Frenchie provokes him, Soldier Boy kills Quinn, returning everyone to normal. Homelander breaks out of the chamber and spares Soldier Boy's life after seeing him broken at killing Quinn.  Meanwhile Annie meets her father, who admits he always loved her, and asks her to keep her loved ones close to keep her humanity which prompts her to reunite with Hughie.  To fulfil Homelander’s request of her Firecracker sets up a massive church service where Oh Father proclaims Homelander as a prophet of God. But in the game of the Seven, Deep betrays him, knocking him out, so that he can take Edgar to Homelander himself. In the fight at the bunker, meanwhile, Maverick confronts Hughie and in the fight Cindy kills Maverick and Annie kills Cindy.  Against Butcher’s advice, and without the virus, Ryan confronts Homelander about raping his mother, Becca, which leads to a violent fight that leaves Ryan badly injured.  As the Boys plan to find the V1 near the site of an old base called Fort Harmony, Annie takes off and leaves them, while Butcher finds the wounded Ryan. Only the strong survive. In the present day, Theadus leads a team of the coalition's strongest warriors including Nolan, Mark, Oliver, Allan, Tech Jacket and Space Racer to the planet Viltrum. He hopes to catch and kill Thragg and a small group of Viltrumites before they’ve had time to regroup and leave the race leaderless. But they were prepared and both groups battled furiously against each other. Thragg makes one last offer to Nolan to come back to the Viltumite side and all will be forgiven. The planet is everything that they represent. Unable to beat the Viltrumites in the battle Nolan, Thaedus and Mark follow an Infinity Bolt from Space Racers weapon through the core of Viltrum destroying the planet and its legacy. Furious, Thragg unleashes his power on the team, taking Thaedus head and Oliver’s jaw declaring he’s a mistake adding nothing to the Viltrumite race. He leaves Nolan beaten unconscious and is stopped short of killing Mark. Realising they’ve lost too many. Weeks later Mark is awakened by Allan, the new leader of the Coalition of Planets. Allan has been tasked to find and retrieve the missing Viltrumites but as they discuss their plans Mark realises the superpowered beings are on their way to Earth.
