Realty Spotlight #2: Project Flood Adaptive Smart Home

After the onslaught of Ondoy in 2009, pocket developer John Aguilar had a what you call a “wake-up call” and envisioned a project called “Flood Adaptive Smart Home” to help the flood-stricken communities in Marikina City adapt to their perennial flooding problem.  Project Flood Adaptive Smarthome is essentially a 5-townhouse development with rafts, floating carports, and flood adaptive design and features. Around 5 years after its completion and with the aftermath of Typhoon Ulysses, John went back to the project site in Marikina City to check on the effectiveness of the project design and floating carport to find out if the concept served its purpose. Summary of Project (Flood Adaptive) Smart Home in Marikina City: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjJLoADfA-M  Project Smart Home - Concept Presentation by Buensalido Architects: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCDOpEiSeAs  Project Smart Home Launch - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9Bf4ctmfNE  Project Smart Home: Finishing Stages Updates: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2oFgLL1GhI  Project Smart Home: Carport Testing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esw0UDKMVdo  On this podcast John Aguilar invited Architect Jason Buensalido, the Chief Design Ambassador of Buensalido Architects, who was tasked to design a house resilient and adaptable to future flooding in Marikina City.
