Edinburgh Man is a great podcast because it plays a large variety of indie music that you will definitely enjoy. The show airs about once a week and is a half hour long, usually featuring about five or six excellent songs from some artists you might be familiar with, such as Of Montreal, and others you may never have heard of. The host, Jonny Dobson, is a Scottish man with a wonderful perspective on the music he plays.
I really like this podcast because the music has variety you won’t find in other podcasts. Most of the songs are hard to classify into one specific genre. Some sound poppy, some sound like rock, and a lot of them have interesting synthesizer sounds in the background that give them a fun element. Nonetheless, most of the songs are very catchy- this is definitely the podcast to go to if you are tired of your playlist and you want to find new bands to listen to. I have discovered quite a few artists whom I’ve grown to become fans of through this podcast, including Marching Band whose song “Another Day” grabbed by attention on episode #22.
I also like this podcast because Jonny does a great job of hosting it. He gives his honest opinion of the artists whose music he plays instead of just praising everyone. This is good because you know he is being sincere when he says he loves a particular artist.
All in all, Edinburgh Man is an awesome podcast because it plays enjoyable music that will always leave you wanting to hear more.
