    Ep. 4: Supporting Children Living in Poverty with Cara Nightingale

    In the latest episode of the Feeding Britain podcast, Andrew is joined by Cara Nightingale, Funding in Schools Project Manager with Feeding Britain partner One Can Trust in High Wycombe. In this episode, Andrew and Cara discuss how Feeding Britain’s partnership with One Can Trust grew from provision to help struggling families with gas and electricity to provision to meet a growing need from children living in poverty ineligible for existing schemes such as Free School Meals and school breakfast clubs. They also discuss how the lessons learnt from this work have been applied through recent changes to government policy.     Ep 6: Innovative Solutions to Tackling Food Insecurity in West Yorkshire

    In this latest episode, Andrew Forsey is joined by Juli Thompson, Cathy Henwood and Dave Paterson who, together, helped to form the Feeding Bradford and Keighley Network and, subsequently, the West Yorkshire Food Poverty Network. Food projects in West Yorkshire have been at the heart of driving change and finding innovative solutions to tackling food insecurity over the last ten years. Whether that be by creating partnerships with local credit unions to enable people to save on more than just their weekly shop, or by working with allotment growers to encourage them to 'share their spare', Juli, Cathy and Dave demonstrate the great impact that is taking place in the region.     In this episode, Andrew is joined by Charlotte Winterbottom, the Policy and Partnerships Manager at Rural Action Derbyshire, an organisation at the heart of one of the first Feeding Britain pilot projects created in Derbyshire. As such, Charlotte is able to reflect on the unique challenges of living rurally when it comes to food insecurity whether that be a lack of access to affordable shops or expensive and inaccessible transport. She discusses the importance of tackling rural food deserts, the need for food services to be more bespoke in rural areas, and the necessity of providing a pathway from crisis food to affordable food.
